september was when i stopped, problem with trying a new mmo is having to find a new community. alot of the times guilds (or their equivalent in other games) will be "we are a group that came from game x, looking for more" and you feel the odd man out
I'm at about level 58 or something now and haven't spoken to another human being on it apart from when I bought a shirt from someone. I'm antisocial even at WoW, haha.
I also happen to be antisocial in WoW more than anywhere else and imagine how well that goes for me since I ended up as the main tank for a guild. Oh joy, everyone and their dog wants to talk to me about everything from small talk about the weather in my country up to and including their sex life. Weather's nice by the way.

I played City of Heroes and Dungeons and Dragons Online when they were free and subscription and I'd still recommend both.
The F2P model of CoH is designed to rip you off as much as possible and a lot of stuff is locked but whatcha going to do. DDO is slightly more fair. There is a decent amount of early game for free. You can also buy anything purchased by real money, just by earning achievements in -game. If you grind enough, it is possible to get very far without spending any money.
The prices in DDO are pretty reasonable also.

I know I've sunk hours into APB:Reloaded. It's unique in what it does, and is generally incredibly fun. Let's not even mention the possibly best character customization system in video-gaming [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WhOTrc5554&feature=player_detailpage#t=88s].

Make sure you have the machine to run it smoothly, though. It's a bit heavy on the requirements.
