Firstly L4D and L4D2 cant really be undone by the survivors AI as its not intended to be played with them, their just there for a bit of practice.

THens the fact that most of the time in my expreince they're reasonably compitent, I only find them a liability in crenchedos or, when I've died.

Total wars AI has nevr been good, especially in sieges, but the move to the musket dominated era of empire and napoleon has brought this even more to light. Thankfully if you have the mates you can cut them out completely in Napoleon.

GTA IV: "Hey, let's all sit in the burning car while Niko just jumped out and ran for the hills. It's not like were mission critical or anything."

L4D2: Just go ahead and run in front of my shotgun as i fire indiscriminately into the zombie horde. You'll be fine. ((Funny thing, It's only Rochelle that does it.))

Infamous: No! That Courier did not fucking see me while I'm standing 3 stories up!

Far Cry 2... What more needs saying? Since when can the enemy shoot you in the same pixel on your forehead in the middle of the night, through 50 meters of thick jungle and you wearing full stealth gear. I never understood why the creators were so damn sloppy with the AI in that game. The game is quite good otherwise, but the AI just makes me hate the game.

Red Steel 2

...if only those grunts took some lessons. At least getting flipped into the air by Shinjiro while blocking his gunfire was fun.

I've played a lot of Empire and Napoleon: Total War. Steam tells me a total of over 160 hours between the two. I play them because I love the Total War concept (Rome is my all-time favorite game), and because I like a good light wargame in-between Paradox games.

But the AI...zoiks. I've never seen a worse battle AI. Every battle is Pickett's Charge or an over-the-top effort from World War One. The enemy marches forward, my long line of Line Infantry profusely perforates them, they run like hell, I claim victory with minimal losses. Lather, rinse, repeat until I just start autoresolving.
Yeah, the repetitive nature of the TW AI can get frustrating, but at least they use the whole range of units and actively attack you.

Supreme commander 2, on the other hand, is just completely uninspired. It loves air unit, to the point where if it sends any ground units at you it's almost a cause for celebration. It will spam bombers and fighters directly towards you right from the word go, they never deviate. When it does start to build tanks, it's on;y to put them into dropships to send directly at you. It's just frighteningly easy to beat even hard AI - just have a good air defence at the start and you're sorted. Hell, even "cheating AI" just sends more air units - any maybe an experimental if you leave it half an hour :/

That was the first thing that came to my mind too. It would've made an awesome stealth game otherwise.

Completely agree about Napoleon: Total War. That game is royally awesome, but the AI does the same things everytime, which basically allows me to roll them with the same strategies everytime. It's rather depressing, because otherwise it is an awesome game. :(

Mercenaries 2 has absolutely idiotic AI, especially for friendly characters, but it isn't game breaking. I've heard that Metro 2033 has some pretty terrible AI problems as well.

OH MY GOD.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is a pretty fun FPS. But the single player campaign SUCKED MAJORLY because of the half-wit AI. I mean really, they buch together around 20 yards behind you half the time, and the time they're actually fighting they appear as if they attended Imperial Stormtrooper Marksmanship Academy.

Gah.

Oblivion. Good Christ, Oblivion.

The supposedly "friendly" NPCs don't seem to realize that if they go charging in hurly-burly at the Dremora you've just carefully lined up to zap right back to the Daedric Princes, they might just get themselves fried instead. Said NPCs apparently also can't designate between you and the bandit you're trying to turn into mincemeat, with the result that I've been killed by an Imperial Guard who peppered me with arrows while I was carving up an Orc marauder because I had the audacity to be in his line of fire.

Half Life 2, if I have a shotgun, combine have submachine guns and I take cover in an alcove, they will run down and try to shoot me at close range as opposed to flushing me out with grenades or something.

Definitely with you on this one. All I did on Rome was play as the greeks, have an army of phalanxes, and put them in a long line with no gaps between the units. I won every time, even in hard difficulty. It was rather disappointing really, so I just ended up autoresolving every battle, which kind of killed the game.

Other than that, I'd have to say LOTR: Conquest. Seriously, don't play it. I've just saved you money ;)
