I'm currently putting together a compilation poster/mural of some of the greatest heroes in entertainment history. Or at least in my opinion.

They all tend to have a fairly similar personality, and generally all come from something that I love.

That said i'm looking for a few more to add to the image, can anyone think of any other heroes that I might want to add?

List so far:
Roland (Gunslinger)
Captain Malcolm Reynolds
Spike
Luke Skywalker
Master Chief

He was a great... great man...
Usually Anglicised as Cao Cao... and be careful what you say, there're a lot of Dynasty Warrior players around here! (I'm not one of them, btw, so I actually agree, if we're talking about the actual man, as opposed to the game character.)

OT: ... well, since Batman's already been mentioned, I have nothing more to add... except maybe Yoda...

I was talking about the man, but he was pretty awesome in the games as well. They kept trying to make him the villain, and it was only more and more laughable compared to history.

I would say Sam Fisher but they kinda ruined his character (and the whole point of the stealth gameplay) in the most recent games. After Chaos Theory that franchise went down faster than the HMS Hood.

So who else...
Well there's The Man With No Name, V, the T-1000, Revan, and Agent 47.

From The Spagetti Westerns, V for Vendetta, Terminator 2, Knights of the Old Republic, and Hitman, respectively.

Simon from Gurren Lagann. Saved the entire universe from stagnation then went back to the background when he was no longer required for no reward other than his freedom. Or Kamina.

Draco Wrath.

Who is that, you may ask. Well...

The slayer of beasts, the roller of bears, the screamer of barrel, the collector of Wilsons, the archmage to end magic, the assassin to kill death, the hero slightly more badass than Raiden, the king among kings, the bear going berserk, the hoarder of equipment, the captain Basch fon Ronsenburg of Dalmasca, the racer of ridges, the dragonborn's *****, the better than hot, the burner of dread, the caster of spells, the Jack to my Sparrow, the greatest fear of Keieko, the correct pronunciation of perhaps the relativity of phoenix downs, the shield of a nation, the wheels of the buzz going round and round, the Knight of the Ten, the finger to Skyrim, the walker of the slightly more colorful ways, the vampire bitchslapper, the man who didn't die in here, the man who didn't DIE, fusion pulse charge carier, gambler of Vegas, who he is is none of your concern, the king among slightly more important kings and the aforementioned kings, the slasher of red tape, the man of the people for the man, the organized anarchist, the evil other thing, the other Club to Death Angel, the proof God exists, the best hero a badly made near talentless Oblivion walkthough could ask for, the other one biting the dust, lover of Antoinette, hater of Vincent Valtieri, parttime vampire, fulltime awesomesauce, the keeper of time, the speaker of rhyme, walker around the flat tree, solver of the riddles three, the original sin, the slightly more original sin, the -ism times one thousand, the drop in an ocean in a bigger ocean, the man who isn't bitter for coming second, the man who is bitter when he comes second, the dirty joke that is slowly getting away, the slim fatboy, the message from above, the cloud in the sky, the oncoming storm, the last timelord, Morrigan's baby, Chuck Norris's father, Liquid's brother, Bridget's... sister, old school subscriber, the upside against the down, the balancer of the weights, the dropper of frogs, the witty pun, the terror of the North, the bomb to end all wars, the heart to end all love, the being who has all five bars wherever he is thanks to an excellent service provider, the handmaid hating, fulltime jailbaiting, straightup son-of-a-***** from Satan's womb, the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, the guntoting, assraping, swordscraping, risktaking, dragonslaying, cakebaking, motherfucking LORD! ...of the dance.

On a more serious note: the Boss from Metal Gear Solid 3, selflessly gave her life for her country while being remembered as a traitor.

Well, the games were 'based on' the Romance, so nnnnnnn... And in the RotTK (early on at least) he is the big bad, because he unites the southern realms rather ruthlessly so the northern kingdoms view him with some horror with the whole oppression vs freedom scuff up. Ultimately, his son finished off what he started so *meh*. He was, down to it, a very shrewd politician and went about it the right way IMO.

The Sima family actually finished up what he started, as Wei fell way to Jin. Technically, Wu lasted the longest during the three kingdom era, but they fell to Jin (Wei 2.0) than China was unified.

That being said. He was portrayed as the villain because the author was Shu bias, and Wei kicked Shu's ass at every turn.

Also, some of the games attempt to be more historically accurate than novel accurate... and then you have some where Ts'ao Ts'ao dreams of a unified china that does not require leaders, and it run by the people. I'm not sure what they were going with on that one... but I laughed so hard during that campaign.

Ts'ao Ts'ao was an amazingly brilliant tactician, and one of my personal heroes. If I ever visited china, his grave would be at the top of the list, of places I'd like to visit.

Then again, my other heroes are Zhang He, Opitmus Prime, Grimlock, and Godzilla... so my idea of a hero might be skewed a little.

Taking whatever heroes come to mind that had main stream appeal: Superman, Batman, Spider-man, Opitmus Prime, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Mario, Sonic, Link, Power Rangers.

You could throw up any of the ka-tet of the rose, or even any like Cuthbert or Alain.

However I would class Steven (roland's father) up there as well, all things considered.

Rakkety Tam and Matthias also come to mind (redwall).

Minato Arisato springs to mind to (especially with his sacrifice).

hm... The commander from GitS.

and if anyone remembers it, the cast of Cyborg 009.

True enough, it was written during the Qing dynasty some fifteen hundred years later, so Romance was definitely the word for the title. Anyway, despite being Chinese, I know relatively little of... well, any period, truth be told, so you probably have the right of it. Still, he was quite a multi-talented individual, along with his military exploits, he was a famous poet.

One thing I do know, though is that we're still not sure where his grave is. There is one in Henan that is alleged to be his, but there is a bit of controversy regarding forgeries, decoys and tomb raiding so that is actually quite a massive shame.
