And fuck SquareEnix too. I'm done waiting for Kingdom Hearts 3 to come out. I'm willing to forgive chain of memories because they unloaded a crappy knock off and then went on to make a fully fledged second installment, but since the second game they've done NOTHING but churn out handheld knock-off after handheld knock-off. Kingdom hearts for the GBA, kingdom hearts for the DS, Kingdom hearts for the PSP. I know I don't speak for everyone in this regard, but I'm not wealthy enough to own one of every console out there and I'm tired of watching them put out subpar titles just to milk the fanbase instead of putting their time and money towards making an actual third game, not half of one for a handheld. What is this they're up to, 5 handheld titles? 6? And nothing about Kingdom Hearts 3.

God I feel you there. This just gets frustrating to me to have to wait constantly for a damn sequel.

Kingdom Hearts 3D. And from what I know, it's the first game to take place after KH2, so it really does look like something essential to the ever-more convoluted story.

Anyway, I'd bet real money that Neku guy is there for only two things; the first is just one level, and the second is to bring some of the lost fandom back to the series.

Isn't Neku supposed to be a misanthropic emo teenager anyway? The kind of guy no one really likes but seems to get shoehorned into anime and RPG's anyway?

You know what should be more exciting than a cameo? Stages that take place in DIFFERENT FREAKING PLACES. Normally I don't use all caps but so far every KH game has recycled the same stages from KH1 and 2.

The only 2 real Kingdom Hearts games are Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 on PS2. Stop with these abominable DS games and make Kingdom Hearts 3 on PS3.

My thoughts exactly. I don't have any handheld systems so i haven't and most likely won't be able to play any of those games anytime soon, if ever. I wish they would consolidate them all into one giant collection and release it on the consoles. That would sell so hard it would be ridiculous.

I guess I'll just have to be content with KH 1 & 2 on PS2. Not like that's necessarily a bad thing though...

I'm excited for this game. I really hope Neku becomes a party member, even if it's only for Traverse Town. They haven't done enough proper party members lately. I mean, your team mates join you for some missions in Days, but most of the time you're flying solo. In Birth by Sleep, there were, like, 2 occasions where you fight alongside the other heroes and both times you split up again immediately after the battle. Why can't they do what they did for Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 where you can swap out your permanent companions for a world-specific one if you're so inclined?

Anyway, screw Kingdom Hearts. I can handle multi platform releases but you do not make the main series story depend on information gained in a damn handheld version. And with how many handhelds its been split into now if KH3 ever does come out its gonna be a indecipherable mess.

I second that. I've been purposely avoiding all those bloody "spin-off" games because of how convoluted things were getting. If they ever do make a KH3 understanding it better not be dependent on having played those otherwise that'll be one hell of a dick move.

Incidentally, ever since I first heard of a Square/Disney crossover I've been hoping the Chrono Trigger characters would make an appearance. So far it hasn't happened.

I tried to make the Epoch in Kingdom Hearts with the ship editor but it didn't really work out... but yeah, I'd like to see the Chrono Trigger team in the Kingdom Hearts Universe as well.

I will buy it, but I've kind of worn out my ability to be excited for a Kingdom Hearts title after the long wait for another one after Kingdom Hearts II was released. I waited and waited, and I eventually just didn't care extremely hard any more. I mean, I like it. But it's hard to be super super excited when you've waited that long. Used to have been, I would have said "oh god YES, more Kingdom Hearts". Now I'm kind of worn out from waiting for a significant title. I haven't even played Birth by Sleep yet due to this. And that was one amazing trailer for it I saw back in the day.

I will eventually. And I do want to buy and play all of them and hold esteem for the series. But it's kinda hard to get back into at this point.

I am happy this topic exists though. The ratio of topics for games that interest me to ones that don't at all here is awfully stark.

That is awesome in so many ways, but the main thing I'm taking from this? Square Enix hasn't forgotten about The World Ends With You, and there might still be hope for a sequel. Let's hope; that is one of the greatest games I've ever played.

I don't mind whether it's one of those, since I was a fan of Birth by Sleep and Days (Coded, not so much.), but it'd be nice to get some closure on KH2's ending.

This isn't KH3, more like KH 2.5? It's a midquel, taking place between KH2 and 3, essentially bridging the gap between both games.

They can't start working on KH3 yet because the people in charge of actually BUILDING the game are still working on Versus 13. Once Versus 13 is finished, they're ready to get to work on KH3 as from what I've gathered, they have most of the details and story laid out for KH3 already.

Convoluted by itself? Yes, I agree. Putting everything in perspective? Eh, still kinda weird, but it does make sense if you put everything together. At the very least, it's better than some other series that just say "Fuck it" when making a sequel. Bioshock 2 comes to mind.

Last I heard, Nomura wants KH3 to be a next-gen title. So they're just killing time until the next gen consoles are released.

Obviously what I say doesn't hold any bearing, but Unacceptable. Utterly unacceptable. For starters, we are ON the next generation. KH1 and 2 are both PS2 games, we're developing for the PS3 now. So the "waiting for the next gen" excuse is just that, it's an excuse not to do it. Sony has even said that they have no plans to retire the PS3 anytime soon, so how long do we have to wait for KH3? 5 years? A decade? Again, this is utterly unacceptable.

I will agree that, if they really are just waiting out for the next generation for KH3, that's utterly unacceptable. However, I think you're being a bit too harsh on the handheld variants. imo, Birth by Sleep has some genuinely interesting concepts that would be nice to see in the actual KH3, and Days and Memories, while certainly not having the best level-up system and combat system, offered some unique takes on them and some elements would be nice to see resurrected. The stories for most of them were fairly straightforward, and any elements there that were confusing are usually better explained with concepts from the other Kingdom Hearts games. It's really more of building a timeline and a world.

Although, I will agree that Coded felt like a rehash and retread of the first KH game. If you want to make KH again so bad, re-release HD versions of the Final Mixes of KH1 and 2. Otherwise, finish Versus 13 so we can see KH3.
