Bubble Bobble[NES] - Ever since I first played it, it's been my GoaT, and will probably always be.

And of course, Berzerk(2600).

Star Fleet 2: Krellan Commander
Part starship simulator, part strategic wargame. Explore star systems, send away teams to planets on a variety of missions, schedule the invasion of those bearing life, and when you're promoted high enough, take command of those invasions. You can also engage a variety of enemy vessels, and even teleport boarding parties over in an attempt to capture them.

I really love Galaga. Hours of mindless fun.

And Mortal Kombat and Tekken and those kinds of old fighters, theyre the reason I played DOA and Soul Calibur.

Favorite retro games, I would have to go with Tie Fighter or Thief 2 for this one (if Thief 2 is considered to be old enough).

Robotron and Space Invaders. I remember there being an incarnation of both on the N64, and both I loved to death. (Space Invaders Extreme and Robotron 64, I believe they were called)

Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie, because I was born in the early 90s.

Sorry, but these are classic games to me

Normality.
Mother 1, Earthbound.
DooM 2.
Monkey Island.
Spyro the Dragon.
Duke Nukem.
Gran Turismo 2.
Timesplitters series (hey, first was in 2000 :/)
Battlezone (THE GOOD ONE).
Unreal Tournament.
Myst.
Rayman.
Pokemon.
Cossacks.
and more

At the risk of sounding like a bigot, I'm proud of my (mostly) healthy balance of genres in my list of classics.

just ignore the low number of RPGs now

Recently I've been gorging myself on the gog.com catalogue replaying such amazing older games like Heroes of Might & Magic 3 (One of the most addictive games ever made, ridiculously fun to this very day.) and Broken Sword 2 (An old adventure series from the PC back when, you know, there were adventure games. Done with a great cartoony style and an Indiana Jones style pseudo history vibe. Love em!) and it's been grand.

I honestly think there's just a certain charm with older games that's been lost with the improvement of graphics. You still see it every once and awhile; Tim Schafer is famous for imbuing his games with that indescribable something. But for the most part it just seems like never games take themselves so damn seriously, and when they try to be *not* serious, they do so in such a serious way you picture a room full of suited men re-watching gameplay clips and nodding slowly as they smoke their cigars and go 'yes yes, that is *very* funny indeed, hrm!'.

What about Pokemon Blue, Red, and Yellow? Those ones were actually good and (at the time) original. We diss Pokemon nowadays for generally being crap, but the original was really good, and being for the original Game boy, it's pretty old.
