Kaem neared the town, the smell of fear embracing the townsmen, for they knew what this particular night had in store.
"Open. The gates"
He said quietly and calmly at the shaking watchman who opened the hatch as Kaem knocked on the soft wood. (Think LOTR1)
Kaem stepped into the town, the black gravel trembling as the horses went wild. They sensed it.
"I believe I owe you something"
Kaem whispered to a man's ear before stabbing him with his dagger.
"Faradon! COME HERE! FACE ME YOU COWARD!"
He screamed wildly into the town, holding his hands to his sides, backward and down a little bit, kind of like Romeo in the story.
"FACE WHAT YOU SEEK TO DESTROY, COWARD!"
.......
A minute silence ended with a sqeeking of a door nearby. As a man walked outside, a woman and two little girls crying as he left them, Kaem smirked at his sight.
"Faradon. How pleasurable it is to see you face to face"
The man stopped when he saw the watchman's blood pouring out of him, resting on the cold wet gravel(road).
"W-what do you want from me?"
"YOU SOUGHT TO KILL ME!"
Kaem yelled as an answer, glaring his teeth at him, the man simply quivered in fear and looked at him.
But then, as Kaem brought his blade upward and walked ever so close to the quivering man before him, he saw behind him his girls and wife crying, the woman trying to hold their eyes shut.
"MONSTER!"
A man yelled from a house nearby.
"...what have I become.."
Kaem whispered so only he could hear. He growled, holding back emotions, coming so close to death, and comparing that to his great age had brought back his ability to feel. It would disapate afterward, but he was going to regret this later.
"HEAR ME! Faradon... I have seen men in the thousands die for their country, for their masters, for money, for power, for leadership and greed.... but never for lo- lo"
The words staggered out of his mouth.
"Love?" Faradon asked quietly.
Kaem said nothing, he felt a tear drip down his chin, but when he went to wipe it, there was blood, his blood.
As he realized what was happening was feelings, feelings for the first time in hundreds of years, coming to life, now.
But then it was gone, even though he could not shake that feeling of what was to come, the aftermath of not killing this man, he did not care at this moment. He simply turned around, got on his steed and road out of town.
Faradon didn't move for five minutes, sweat everywhere on his body and tears of joy sliding down his chin.
"...maybe they do feel.."
He whispered.
