I was having this discussion with a friend not long ago, I said queen becuause I think they did amazing live shows and made some incredible songs. But my friend said The Beatles because they were more famous in his eye's and help revolutionize music of the day etc.

So what do you think was the best band (or musical preformer) and why, of course you don't have to choose The Beatles or queen (hence why there is no poll).

Well, it's hard for me to pick one, but if I had to....

Let's see....

I think I'll go with Led Zeppelin.

Beach Boys. Without them, The Beatles are just another pop band that never revolutionizes music. No Pet Sounds, not Sgt. Peppers. No Sgt. Peppers, no Rock n Roll as we know it.

Wow, this is a tough one. I'd probably have to go with Black Sabbath, but that's mostly because they basically created my favorite genre of music. I must give props to bands like Queen, Zep, The Beatles, and such, but Sabbath just rocks my face off.

It's a tie for me between Led Zeppelin and Queen, for sheer variety and awesomeness.

For solo artists, my favorite would probably have to be David Bowie.

I'd agree with your friend about The Beatles in terms of success and acclaim (and being a fan), but I'm going to say The Velvet Underground. Not so much out of personal preference (I only own one of their albums) due to them being incredebly influential. Well, that, and it makes me sound cooler than you.

Sorry, but Queen is just another area rock band to me.

EDIT:

Radiohead, I suppose. That's personal preference.
Oh damn, I forgot to mention them.

The Doors, for in their early years revolutionizing psychedelic rock and in their later years revolutionizing blues/jazz rock and for being a great damn band as well.
