Almost all the ones in the Avenged Sevenfold songs, they just rock...
Especially in "Afterlife".
If you listen for all the solos in all their songs, they're freakin insane. I'm not exactly sure about this, but I listened to one of their not-really-that-famous songs and the solo was crazier than Painkiller's solos... Too bad Avenged Sevenfold is underrated. :/
They did a song called "Sidewinder" and it has a killer solo at the end that turns into a jam acoustic solo. It's incredible

I know this sounds geeky, but Devil Came Down to Georgia's solo is just freaking insane
Are you talking about the Charlie Daniel's Band or The guy that re-did it for guitar hero. Because if so, then yeah, that solo is nuts.
I'm speaking of the remake by Steve Ouimette (I think)

I love Metallica alot but I love Avenged Sevenfold alot more. They play the hell out of their solos and the acoustic just made it sicker...

I can't believe you guys haven't even given Lynyrd Skynyrd's Freebird a mention. And this is very early on in the discussion.

Personally Megadeth Solos are always brilliant as is Chuck Schuldiner's. And I happen to like Slayer solos even though they're just a random assortment of notes.
They're not random notes, they'r the guitarist trying to recreate the sounds of torture and death!

It's a tough decision between Floods by Pantera; Silent Night, Bodom Night by Children of Bodom; Crazy Train by Ozzy; The Mirror by Dream Theater; Hangar 18 by Megadeth and pretty much any Steve Vai or Paul Gilbert song.

For me, anyway.

Megadeth:

Holy Wars/The Punishment Due
Tornado of Souls

Both amazing solos packed with dynamics and tension

'Tallica:
The Unvorgiven

Just gorgeous

Iron Maiden

Rime of the Ancient Mariner (the solo after the quiet bit... so epic and powerful)
Nomad

Free Bird. I know there are lot better ones out there but this was one of the first. It practically pioneered guitar solos.

damn everyone forgets about sweet child o mine
I didn't forget. I just massively don't care about it.

Don't get me wrong, GnR aren't too bad, but that song is the most overplayed thing ever. And the solo is okay, but forgettable. For me anyway.

Ooh, another one! Deep Purple - Burn. Go listen. Now.

Besides the obvious ones (Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne songs, Freebird) I have to say that the guitar solo on "Take it on the Run" by REO Speedwagon is simple, but nearly impossible to not air guitar to.
Good Lord, another Reo Speedwagon fan? A rare breed indeed!

REO Speedwagon is definitely one of the best arena rock groups, in my opinion. Come on, "Roll with the Changes" is just epic once the back up chorus kicks in.

Mr. Crowley wins.
Or any dragonforce song. They're pretty much all insane solos.

If you're loving A7X solos listen to the one on Second Heartbeat.

This one, and Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb.
