Skin on my teeth - Megadeth
Bat Country - Avenged Sevenfold
Painkiller - Judas Priest

Also some of Yngwie, Joe Stump and Joe Satriani. Can't remember right now
And NO, no freebird, sorry. Granted the guitarist is talented but that solo is way too long and its goes like he repeats a new chord for 6 secs, then plays another chord for another 6 secs, and so on. The song is still cool though ;)

I personally am a huge fan of the solo in Don't Fear the Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult. Ohh, and the dual guitar solo/outro at the end of Hotel California by the Eagles. Overall, they are simple solos, but very effective.

C'mon guys, is there really a guitar solo thread without mention of Jimmy Page? How about the solo in Stairway to Heaven, the most requested song in radio history? Or how about the solo in Heartbreaker, where Page literally invented two-handed tapping? Most of the above solos have him to thank for that.

Apart from that, Bohemian Rhapsody is one of my personal favorites.

Alright, we all know Zep and the other usual suspects for greatest guitar solos, but here are a few of what I consider to be the forgotten greats:

J.Mascis of Dinosaur Jr. - He's basically the reigning guitar hero of the grunge era. You might think Dave Navarro is the guitar hero of that period but he's got more in common with the 80's axe men than grunge. Watch some Dinosaur Jr. live clips for confirmation

Prince - One of the great guitar players of all time. He can do rock, he can do funk, he can do blues, jazz, and hell, he can probably do country as well.

I'll reference this video [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AUBn6i7HDHk] at 1:50 forward for the funk and his Guitar Gently Weeps solo at the rock and roll hall of fame induction for the rock.

I don't know if it matches the category, but Omar Rodriguez-Lopez - Luxury of infancy. Very short, not really impressive when it comes to technique, but there is so much feel in it.

Mr. Crowley wins.
Or any dragonforce song. They're pretty much all insane solos.

If you're loving A7X solos listen to the one on Second Heartbeat.
I can play part of the Second Heartbeat solo...but theres one part where it goes insane and I cant keep up with it
