I'd probably have to go with Jimi, but there has definitely not been enough mention of the outstanding B.B. King in this discussion

Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser of Blue Oyster Cult. He was even said to be the favorite guitarist of Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page. Search YouTube for Buck's Boogie to find an excellent example of his work. The man has got some of the fastest fingers on the planet and can do the most amazing things with a whammy bar.

Ehhhhhhh...

Joe Satriani, probably. I'm a sucker for neoclassical stuff so I'll put Yngwie in there as well. One of my favourite duos is Phil Demmel and Robb Flynn from Machine Head.

I'll mention Dino Cazares from Fear Factory because of his distinct style of simple riffs played at ridiculous speeds and very rarely using solos.

It's Jimmi. There would be nothing without him. To say it's anybody apart from Jimmi is just you talking cods^%t. If we were talking about personal favorite guitarists my personal fave would def be Jimmi, distantly followed by John Frusciante.

Bebop just makes Void(null) sooooo mad! Beepity Boop Grrrrrrrrr!

Seriously I'm just glad someone mentioned Django before I had to. Thank you.
But its truuuuuue!

Like seriously, I rage if I have to listen to it for longer than a few minutes. Absolutely irrational and uncontrollable.

Miles Davis is my Kryptonite.

Back on track however, glad to see so much love for the old Gypsy Guitarist.

..........Me?

If you're gonna smack me around the head, do it with a guitar. I won't have it any other way. And specify what guitar you're using.
A Fender Stratocaster Mexican Made From 1991. Can I be more specific?
Don't think so no. You couldn't also be much more awesome.

Joe Satriani. Yes he does play fast in some songs, but he can do it all if he wanted to.
here is my favorite instrumental by him.

your avatar hella syncs up to the song lol

OT: via, satriani, malmstien, hendrix. toss up i think.
lol your right his headbanging goes right with the beat. Oh about Petrucci, his instrumental call Glasgow Kiss is a pretty sweet. If I remember correctly I think Satriani was one of Petrucci's mentors.

Who cares....It's not a question of the best guitarist but the music and the meaning behind it.

I don't think anyone has posted him yet, but PHIL X! If you haven't heard of him, you should. If you are a guitar geek like me, you'll understand. If you aren't, you might not.
