What no love for Hitchcock for classic horror I would go with Psycho just the suspense killed me. For a more modern horror film it would have to be Wolf Creek.
I forgot to add Psycho to my list. It's been said a couple times in this thread, but it really can't be stressed enough, Psycho, North by Northwest (okay, more of a thriller than horror) and Vertigo were all fantastic, as were most of Hitchcock's films.Zykmiester said:What no love for Hitchcock for classic horror I would go with Psycho just the suspense killed me
Most of the time, I agree that people are free to have opinions, however when someone aays something so incredibly silly like 'Friday the 13th remake is the best horror film ever', I refuse to admit that someone could be so stupid. That's like saying all human life started with Adam and Eve. It's just fucking idiotic. That isn't to say that I hate all religion, if religion makes someone a better person, all the power to them, but if they believe in creationism, not evolution, I see it as pure and simply wrong. No doubt about it.Kenbo Slice said:Hey you can't say he's wrong, people have opinions. It was incredible, and the first horror movie I really got into.
Second to it is eaither Return, Revenge, or Curse of Michael Myers. The story is just perfect. They really go together, and take the first two into account, and ignore every other Halloween movie, and you have the perfect series.
A lot of the other Friday the 13ths could fit, too.
The fact that other horror movies call themselves slashers and claim to be like Halloween and Friday is an isult to the two film lines. Both are so much better then the so called slasher genre.

I won't say it's stupid or fucking dumb or something, but if you think Halloween or Friday the 13th was anything more than mediocre slasher films, you just haven't seen enough movies for this topic.KimberlyGoreHound said:You best be trolling, son.TheDarkEricDraven said:Friday the 13th(2009). What? No, why? I know the AVGN doesn't like those movies, but I think they are the best.
But it could be the best horror film ever to THEM. It's not stupid, it's just their opinion. Like I think the original Halloween is the best horror film of all time, but people might disagree with me and call me stupid but that doesn't matter because it's the best to me, not to them.KimberlyGoreHound said:I forgot to add Psycho to my list. The thread isn't called your 'favourite' horror, it's 'greatest'. One of my favourite movies is The Rocky Horror Picture Show, but it's certainly a horrible fucking movie, most of the acting is piss-poor, the sets are cheesy, the costumes are nice, Tim Curry's great in it, but overall, it's a failure in almost all aspects save for entertainment. Calling a film the greatest horror ever is implying it has the best acting, storyline, dialogue, etc - or at least on average is of higher quality than all others. ALL Friday the 13th films are entirely exempt from this because they're all terrible (okay, the first one isn't too terrible, and the second had bag-head Jason, who was actually pretty creepy). Entertaining? Sure. Good? Fuck no.Kenbo Slice said:But it could be the best horror film ever to THEM. It's not stupid, it's just their opinion. Ofcourse I meant 28 weekszombiesinc said:You must be from the future! I personally loved 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later, but I've heard good things about the third installment.Paikis said:I don't know if it counts as a horror movie, but '28 days later' and '28 months later' scared the crap out of me. I think it was mostly the atmosphere, and the fact that it is technically possible.
OT - The Thing, The Shining, Alien Quadrilogy [small](yes, all four movies)[/small], Halloween, Psycho, Martyrs, The Mist, Dawn of the Dead, The Descent, The Exorcist, Audition, Let the Right One In.
I'm sure there are many, many more, but that's all that comes to mind for now.
