I've played hundreds of hours of Mariokart/Diddy Kong Racing on the N64 with my father, unless he was hogging the Gameboy to play Tetris.

And for the record, my father was born 1950, and he was a real gamer nut in the early nineties, with the Atari games. So it's not only "modern" parents that play video games.

When I was very young, my dad and I would play the Gold Box Forgotten Realms CRPGs (specifically Pool of Radiance, Curse of the Azure Bonds, Secret of the Silver Blades, and Hillsfar). He basically introduced me to gaming that way.

Oh, the hours wasted on various TBS. Both hotseating and just simple "2 heads are better than one" gameplay.

Three, back in days of the NES.

1. Watching my dad beat Dragon Warrior and being too young to realize how long that really took. I just remeber him logging an hour or two a night playing.

2. Sitting in my dad's lap playing RC Pro Am together. He'd steer and I'd mash the fire button while holding down gas.

3. Seeing my mom get obsessed with Tetris during recovery from a surgery. She's still hooked on it to this day. First thing I have to reinstall whenever I have to fix their computers.

When I was growing up, my brother, dad, and I would play MarioKart 64, Diddy Kong Racing, and the dreaded MarioParty together.

Now that we're all much older, on the holidays the entire clan will gather at my grandparents house and play wii together. Last year we played a lot of the minigames on wiifit and this past Christmas we played DJ hero and this Cabela's hunting game. The best part about it was that half of us would be sitting around the corner eating dinner when we would hear the roar of a bear and "shoot him! SHOOT HIM!!!!"

Gotta love being home for the holidays.

My father keeps clenching his legs when he pulls tight turns in flight simulator games like "Ace Combat 6" to prevent from blacking out from the G-Forces. Old habits die hard.

My dad used to game quite frequently back when I had my MegaDrive. He'd use that more often than I would.
When I got my PS1, he'd play Crash Team Racing, Tekken 2 and Colin McRae Rally with me. He lost interest when I started getting into other types of games.

The best time gaming with him was when I started beating him on CTR... his reaction was priceless.

My mum never bothered with them, but has even less to do with them ever since she watched me on Fallout 3...

I can't think of a single person I know who has ever gamed with their parents. I'm pretty sure my dad would only play a game if you threatened to cut his hands off and even then it would be a close run thing.

I find games with my parents can be fun. Works best with games less serious. Audiosurf is great, and so are things like Buzz and Wii tennis. My dad luckily can play things like Battlefield with me, so that's cool too :)

back in the days of the N64 was always funny to watch my dad get motion sickness on Pod-racer, used to put it in the first person view just to make it a bit worse, he couldn't play for more then a few minutes at a time.

My dad and I had loads of fun playing D2 together. Also, that's the only game he ever really knew or cared about for the most part.

When Sands of Time first came out on PS2 I taught my mum to play it, it was good until I realised I wasn't going to be getting a turn on the PS2 for about a week...

My father used to be very good at old 486 games. Captain Comic, Tetris, TestDrive, Grand Prix Speed. Doesn't play games anymore though... shame. Had some fun times.

My dad tried to play Arkham Asylum once, oh how it failed.

But when I was a bit younger he absolutely loved golden eye on the N64!

Embaressingly enough, Hasbro Family Game Night. Mum bought it for the specific reason that she didnt see the family taking turns to kill things as Kratos being fun for everyone. But oddly enough, we had a laugh.
