Janus, the two faced Deity!
God of all beginnings, and all ends :)

And as the bouncer of the heavenly gates, you'd better worship me if you want to get in, b*tches!

Hermes-the messenger of the gods, giver of increase to herds, guardian of boundaries and of roads, and their commerce. He was god of science and invention, of eloquence, cunning, trickery, theft, of luck and treasure trove, and conductor of the dead to Hades.

I get commerce and trade, science, invention, trickery, theft, luck, treasure trove (booty), and I get to say who goes to Hades. Oh yeah. Suck it.

If I had to make one up:
either
a) Ironius - God of Irony. Ironically, I would only have power over things which are in no way ironic.
b) Antra - God of music. I would have power over sounds and can use sounds to create events i.e. a combination of sounds which is haunting and sad would call forth wailig ghosts that cause great waves of depression, while making a musical piece which is uplifting and lively would cause harvests to grow, women to have healthy babies, food to be delicious, everyone to be enrgetic etc etc you get the idea.

If I had to choose one of the real ones I would choose Poseidon, as I do love me some storms and waves.

Funny, I always wondered what I would be, I always thought it was funny when I compared myself to Hephaestus and make the 'peoples fall down with my talent!'. seriously, would love to make golden shoes that make people fall over.

Funny part is my roomies all call me Dionysus, though, because I'm rather easy going and carefree for the most part.

Methinks I'd want to be Apollo, The god of light and the sun; truth and prophecy; archery; medicine and healing; music, poetry, and the arts. The really happy and gay (happy-gay not homo-gay) god who is eternally young and beautiful and male.

That'd be so awesome. I could declare through my mortal envoy, The Prophet, that Socrates IS the wisest of men and fire upon the silly Greeks an arrow carrying the curse of Apollo for desecrating my temple in Troy.

can we choose a Titan... if so, Kronos, if you control time, you control everything
Sure, any type of God/Goddess for that matter
in that case, thor i suppose.

for the same reason as above, overthrowing the higher authority.
thor=norse, not greek sry.

anyway, Hades. i get my own domain, kidnapped wife, and awesome pet.
i know what culture thor is, but since we can choose whichever culture we want, and we got people in here choosing kratos even though he isnt part of the established mythos, i choose thor.

If he gets to be a titan; I get to be a hero:

Bellerophon

And if I was a Greek god; Apollo. He's just so awesome. He brought the day and night while riding in a golden chariot... Or am I wrong?

Kratos. All other things pale in comparison.
he would fall int the Hero category, with Achilles, Eneas, Hector, Paris (crybaby), Jason, Heracles... and there is actually a minor god called Cratos
I know it isn't 'cannon' (not that anything really is in Greek/Roman mythology) but Kratos did become the god of war... and awesome.

Apollo:

God of music, medicine, health, prophecies, poetry, and archery. Also said to be the god of light and truth. Is associated with the sun. Also referred to as the most handsome of the gods.

Now, I don't care that much about the handsome part *Cough* but the rest is quite epic.

My fav would be Heracles (yes he did ascend to Mt Olypus eventually). He's got some of the best stories behind him, and more than just his labors. All the gods had human faults in Greek myths, but he was the only one who ever felt bad for some of the stuff he did (such as killing his family in a Hera-induced rage...) so that puts him a good click more decent then the rest too.
Ares gets a bad rap from what we know of him...mostly because all the stories we know of him come from Athens. Since Athens really hated Sparta (who's patron diety was Ares) it is no surprise they always presented him as a bumbling brute who always got outsmarted by Athena (Athen's patron diety). I wish Sparta or other city-states wrote down the stories as much as Athenians did...I'd love to hear thier take(s) on the diety without the bias of a nation who kept getting thier butts handed to them by his followers.

Edit
Come to think of it...I think Ares would probably be a lot like Kratos from God of War when told from a neutral teller.

I actually worship the Greco-Roman pantheon, so I wouldn't dare meddle in the affairs of my gods---it would be like a Christian trying to usurp Jesus.

That said, I'm actually named after the Greeks' answer to Sheogorath, and considering the circumstances of my conception, it's totally appropriate.

One of the death dudes sound pretty good... I don't remember if it's Hades himself or not, but whoever is married to Gaea's daughter.

Athena is pretty cool too. And Poseidon, for that matter. Hell, pretty much all of them are nice.
Gaea was married to Ouranos, he had absolutely nothing to do with Death

for me?
Apollo
that guy has so many roles & interpretations I can be practically anything!
like The Sun, THE magic doctor, a fine archer, a fucking smart dude, and probably more i can't rememer right now
Read it again... I said Gaea's DAUGHTER. Or maybe it wasn't even Gaea's daughter, but it was definitely the daughter of some big nature-themed goddess. Y'know, there is also the whole myth about Zues promising her to Hades - or some other god associated with Death and realm of Hades, who then proceeds to steal her and her mother - I assume, Gaea, goes all emo and makes all the plants infertile, so winter happens and people die, shitstorm gets worse until Hades makes a deal to release his wife for half of the year...

So it's basically myth about change of seasons, if only I could remember it's name.
right, sorry, and you're talking about demeter and Persephone, but i believe someone already said that.

Problem with greek mythology is that it all differs from sources.
Euripides and some other sources tells us that he died a mortal in Athens after his madness killed his own children and wife.

I'd be Apollo if I was to be a greek god, and then proceed to punch the shit out of Paris, Hera and Agamemnon for bringing about the fall of Troy.

Vulcanus, because you get to be married to Venus.

Okay, so you're a cripple too, but you craft all the divine artifacts and make vulcanos erupt.
