So apparently there's a new live action TV series called Arrow, which is based on the Green Arrow.

How come I didn't read anything about that on this site? The only thing I found when I searched the escapist was MovieBob proposing Green Arrow as a movie adaptation two years ago and aside from that, only this remark from two months ago:

Sean Hollyman said:
Green Arrow is getting a tv show, if you didn't know.
Seems like you really were the only one to know about this, Sean ;)

So, why did this series fly under the escapist's radar?

[sub]Captcha: beyond me [sub]I hate it when it's reading my mind like that...[/sub][/sub]

I watched one episode, and I wasn't a fan.

That might've been because it was part-way through the series already, and I was kinda busy/stressed, but ... yeah, I don't really think I have a reason to go back to it.

It is a decent show sorta like a cross between Nolans batman and smallville. The overarching plot is strong but the details can be weak at times also the characters can be a bit melodramatic. I like it but it isn't anything amazing by any stretch.

I've been told that if you're a fan of the Green Arrow already, you won't like it and that if you're not already a fan, then you may like the series. I don't know a single damn thing about the Green Arrow (seriously, I didn't even hear of it until that Seth Rogen movie was being advertised. And I never even saw that movie). So I enjoy the series, though I don't really think there is anything special about it. Honestly, I get a Burn Notice meets Batman vibe from it. It's forgettable, but entertaining.

Well, I guess I'm lucky then since that series is my first contact with Green Arrow. I like what I've seen so far, but I can also see how long standing fans might not like it.
What Seth Rogen movie are you referring to?

Bah, that was the Green Hornet. So nevermind on that one. I guess there has been a sudden resurgence of green heroes the last few years...

It's pretty solid, not very superhero-ey, but a decent action/drama. The Huntress showed up last week, so there promises to be more superheroes in the future

I kinda like the fact that it's basically a continuous stream of DC's non-powered characters.

The actually show itself is watch-able but nothing special. It's very safe, they don't really do anything controversial with it. It's average, though the fight scenes have been getting better.

They did kill Deadshot far too easily though.

Might be interesting for those who don't know it yet:
Manu Bennett, also known as the guy who played Crixus on Spartacus, just got cast as Deathstroke.

The word is "melodramatic". From the Greek "melos", song. Not mellow... I just find it odd you haven't ever, ever found the word written. It's one of those words that, I believe, you're more likely to see written than hear from people. Not in your case, apparently.

The show is just okay. But I've watched every episode, so I guess It's not that bad. There are some terribly predictable, stereotypical moments. Especially character moments. But if you get over that, it's a fun mediocre show.

The only thing I really know about Arrow is that John Barrowman plays a role in it, but otherwise, it just seemed too run-of-the-mill for my taste.

Huntress being in this Arrow show makes no sense to me! she was a batman allie.....and her orgin now is totaly difrent!!!! GRRR I think the show should be to sell comics and this would make it harder for people to read and understand comic!!!

Arrow is pretty good. He's not really the Green Arrow, but it's still pretty cool. It'd kinda more brutal than the Nolan Batman movies, but also kinda has some of the same feel as Smallville...somehow.

If you watch it expecting the real Green Arrow, well, you'll be disappointed.
If you watch it to see a crazy bow wielding Batman dude killing every sonbitch that gets in his way...guess you'll love it.

This show isn't worried about being subtle or pulling any punches. Sooooo much killing. @_@

It's certainly not a super fantastic show or anything, but I actually do find it very compelling to watch and keep watching to see what happens.

Interesting I didn't know that. Also yep I had only ever heard the phrase spoken, either way you live you learn.

Casting Mia Dearden as Green Arrow's sister doesn't help much either. If you watch the first episode her name is Mia, but they realised their mistake and from episode 2 onwards she's Thia. Still called Speedy for some reason.

I'm behind the yanks episode wise but I'm loving it. Main actor isnt perfect but he balances the Oly he is and the one he has to pretend to be brilliantly. Diggles is awesome and Speedy is a 17 year old girl for some reason.

I'm loving it.

Watched the first three episodes. The body count of our "hero" was nearly 30 people by the end of the third episode. At that point I had no interest in a "dark and gritty super-hero who kills! Cause you know! He's so dark and gritty!" so I stopped watching.
