There has been a lot of talk on the big movie sites about the GL movie getting off the ground. Depending on the take, I'm all for it. There are also a lot of rumors circulating that they're going after really young actors to play Hal Jordan (ala the failed Justice League flick), and that people like Anton Yelchin are in talks. I really, really hope that those rumors are unfounded. But the question is, who would be your dream cast for a Green Lantern flick. And which Lantern do you want it to be about? Hal? John Stewart? Maybe your tastes flow towards Kyle Reiner?

Personally, I think David Boreanaz would fit the role perfectly for Hal Jordan. The guy has the chops for the role. He comes off as a ladies man. He has some experience with the role, even if it was only his voice in "New Frontier".

I think if they did MoCap for it, Brad Garrett would be a good choice for Kilowag.

How about Gary Oldman for Sinestro?

what are your guy's thoughts?

I know nothing about the Green Lantern. He's the black superhero, right?

Obviously he should be played by

A) Morgan Freeman
B) Samuel L. Jackson
C) Chris Rock

Take your pick. Either way, I'll enjoy it.

Didn't green lantern have a weakness involving the colour yellow, cos I'm guessing that would not make a film great...sorry, I'm not a DC fan so I may seem n00bish...

One of them is (John Stewart). There are lots of Green Lanterns.

I'd say Nathan Fillion for Hal Jordan. (I believe he's going to voice him in the upcoming animated movie, but he'd do a good job live as well).

I don't know about a live action John Stewart. Phil LaMarr is perfect as his voice in JLU, but he's a bit slight to do him live action.

Firstly Christopher Meloni from Law & Order: SVU is voicing GL in the upcoming animated flick. Nathan Fillion voiced Steve Trevor in the Wonder Woman movie.

I like Fillion. A lot actually, and I think he gets a bum rap always being a show that never lasts more than a few episodes. Firefly rocked. I wouldn't mind him in the role, but considering his bumpy history, I wouldn't bet money that a studio would back him in a lead role. He might be jinxed.

No, no, not quite...

Nah dude, he is in the cartoon, but there are plenty of GL's, earth has like 4 me thinks, think of GL as Ninja Gaiden of the comic book world, tough as nails and theres like a million of them but a casual observer wouldn't know that.

oh, and for John Stewart, I didn't really object to the idea of Common. He has some acting chops, he's the right build. He might also attract people who would otherwise not give the flick a chance.

i don't know if they'll make it, warner brothers has a habit of screwing over movie translations, tho Watchmen surprised me so maybe they've learned their lessons from steel and catwoman

I liked the one who traveled with Green Arrow(can't remember his name, I think Hal) who later became the Specter. I hope they use that Green Lantern and add Green Arrow also. But no the Corps, that would be far too confusing for people.

Hal Jordon: Jenson Ackles from Supernatural. He has that kinda military/air force look to him
Sinestro: Gary Oldman. Brilliant Casting choice there OP
John Stewart: Well apparently the rapper Common nabbed that role but I'm going to have to go with Don Cheadle
Kyle Rainer: Casey Affleck, though he would make for a good Brainiac too.
Alan Scott (Yeah I'm gonna go THAT far): Sam Niel definitely.
Neil Gardner: An older Shia LaBeuff

I completely, fucking agree with you, man. Nathan Fillion looks like Hal Jordan, is a good actor, and can act in a couple of sarcastic, hilarious remarks before the major fight scene.

I could sort of see Chris Pine (Kirk from the new Star Trek remake) playing Hal Jordan. He's a bit young, but I guess that could work if the movie turned out to be an origin flick. He bears a pretty striking resemblance to a young Hal, in my opinion.

For further down the line, I'd want Tom Welling (of Smallville fame) to play Kyle Rayner. He's got the look of a young, up-and-coming superhero who's got great power, but is still learning the ropes, down pat.

It was recently found out that it's not simply the color that causes the weakness, but a parasite inside each Power Ring. It's basically the living embodiment of fear, and it just happens to be yellow. It can be beaten by recognizing "great fear" and consciously overcoming it.
Personally, I think this could translate to film fairly well. Parallax (the parasite in question) is pretty spectacularly strange looking in the books, I imagine he'd be stunning on the big screen.
