Can't think of a good video game movie off the top of my head.
Prince of Persia, Silent Hill, Mortal Kombat, etc. They've made good video game movies, they just haven't made a great one yet.
Even that being said there are very few good ones even still though you are right there are a couple decent ones

Dunno about the other two, but PoP was passable. I'd struggle to call it "good". The game was much more mature and better written.

OT: Confirms nothing, and virtually everyone has said they don't see it getting a sequel, not just Bob. And there's a difference between risk-taking and stupidity; it doesn't look set to recover its cost so far (as I understand it).

If reports about the advertising budget are true (some estimate as high as $200 million), they may do a sequel in the hopes of piggy backing on their advertising blitz. That's about the best reasoning I can come up with though. Viewers are goldfish though, so I don't think it's a particularly smart move.

Then again, Mariah made a comeback after Glitter so I guess anything is possible.

GI Joe got a sequel with it's poor box office, so Green Lantern might also get a sequel.
If Wikipedia is to be believed, GI Joe brought in money from box office sales alone. Add in DVDs, merchandising, I'm sure they made enough to warrant a sequel.

I'd rather they get a different actor than ryan reynolds, not that I think he's bad for green lantern, but I'd prefer that people don't associate him with the green lantern and he goes on to make a deadpool movie which imo he would be so much better in.

The day this film gets a sequel is the day I finally turn straight. (read: this film is never getting a sequel)

With posts like that, I find your avatar fairly redundant.

So, anyway. Am I the only one who LIKED the organic-looking costume? I mean the mask looked stupid, almost like the artists had forgotten to add in shading, but still.

You... didn't actually listen to what he said, did you.

First of all, he said 'probably not', there was no guarantee.

Second of all, he said it would start with everyone involved claiming a sequel was happening. Later on, the director or someone would announce that it wouldn't happen.

So as far as Moviebob's prediction goes, this is right on the money.

I'm not saying he's right; just that this doesn't make him wrong.

Yep people should actually relisten to the review before making a post like this.

or maybe he should...I don't know, come to the forums and defend himself, instead of letting other people defend his videos.

I know a lot of people will probably say "That doesn't count" because A. It's animated and B. It was never brought to the states (though it IS available in English in the UK) but I think the Professor Layton movie was pretty awesome.

It had a pretty good story, and interesting cast of characters, was true to the regulars, and most shocking of all was actually able to incorporate the gameplay into the plot some.

EDIT: I wonder if someone could do a live action professor layton movie and make it good if they tried to follow the same format the animated one did...

This isn't gonna be a popular opinion, but I liked the movie. I've been a GL fan for most of my life, and though the movie had some pretty glaring flaws, I got a big kick out of seeing it on the big screen. If Warner Bros. is building to a "Blackest Night" adaptation, as they seemed to hint, I don't care how bad it is, I'll still see it and probably enjoy it.
We stand united. I really enjoyed Green Lantern. I've not been a big fan through the years (though he is one of the characters who I'm going to actively pursue once DC reboots), and I greatly enjoyed it.

But I also enjoyed Daredevil and Green Hornet, so what the hell do I know?

The only way I would ever forgive them the atrocity that was Green Lantern (mind you he is my favorite superhero so I am pissed off x2) is if the sequel was made perfectly based on the comics. If there is even a hair out of place on Hal Jordan's head I would be in a very stabby mood.

Post Harry Potter, WB will be struggling to find a new cash cow franchise.
Taking into account, ticket sales, merchandising, home video and DD revenues; Green Lantern still has the chance to be a profitable venture, probably profitable enough to warrant a sequel.

Who knows, maybe Green Lantern 2 will actually be good.

If my burgeoning acting career were to miraculously take off in a meteoric fashion I would start a huge movement to have Geoff Johns handle the script. He unmade one horrible blight against Hal Jordan, I'm willing to be he could unmake another.

Eh Movie Bob hopped onto the critic bandwagon and hated its guts, when in reality it wasnt the horrible horrible piece of garbage he made it out to be. It was a very mediocre film, not aweful, just mediocre.

If the execs listen at all and want a successfull film, they need to focus on the space, the thing quite literally everyone was hoping for and expecting was a space opera, not "Maverick in Space" for 20 minutes.

I cant say im terribly shocked, with Batman ending soon, they arnt going to be making any more of that Christopher Nolan money. They're Batman movie they are going to make afterwords wont be as successfull at all, I can promise you that, and I think they know it. Trying to get new DC properties up to combat Marvel is really all they can do.

Wow....so much for Moviebob guaranteeing that there wouldn't be a sequel. Moviebob needs to learn to never underestimate a risk taking studio like Warner Brothers.
Every studioo says "we are going to do this" but very few actually do it. Where is our Halo movie? Deus Ex movie? Gears of War movie? Where is our Half Life movie? None of those happened because they died in production or were never worked on to begin with. The Exact same path moviebob said Green Lantern would take.
Though, on reflection, it's probably best none of those movies ever got made. Can't think of a good video game movie off the top of my head. It would just cause rage if they screwed up any of those movies (I'd like to add Mass Effect to the list).
Exactly. They will dance around the idea, only to revert to the same "sexy woman killing people" movie, an avatar wannabe, or even an expendables rip off. It always happens. Nerds don't spend the big bucks. Why should they? Games already beat the quality of movies tenfold. Who would watch transformers 3 when New vegas, Skyrim, Mass Effect 3, or even episode 3 is around?
That's true for me. I have zero motivation to go to the theaters these days unless it's part of the plan for the day with friends. Unless a movie has a interesting concept like Inception, then I'll just hold out and rely on my Netflix account (which I actually use to watch TV shows 80% of the time. Just finished off all the season of Breaking Bad, actually). Movies have sharply declined in recent years.
