i like how even in the trailer ryan reynolds is aware of what a terrible green lantern he will make. its an amusing 4th wall kind of scenario for me at least, and just adds to my bewilderment as to why he is anything but deadpool, because he is perfect for that role and nothing else.

i really dont care for the incompetent douche-ification of super heroes thing hollywood has going; first green hornet, now green lantern, in all likelyhood thor and captain america, theyre turning superman emo now as well...what happened to 'heroic' heroes? i understand the infallible superman archetype is boring, but they really need to find the peter parker-esque balance inbetween invincible manchild and incompetent manchild.

I actually thought the suit was a nice touch as opposed to more superheroes where I feel that some costumes... Just don't work.

I agree that Ryan Reynolds is certainly not my choice for Green Lantern, it feels like it might play like Van Wilder in space. But I must address those other comments, how do you know Thor and Captain America are going to be doucheifications? Everything I've seen points to otherwise.

An that superman comic is not "emo" nor is he in it, journalists and the internet took a few panels completely out of context and created a hype storm. I've read it and it's pretty good, not a masterpiece but fun. It's a fresh look at a young Superman has awesome battles with a fantastic brand new villain. Its also one of the fastest selling comics, so make of that what you will.

Finally, "what happened to heroic heroes?". Well I'm no expert on DC, but Marvel at the moment is going through the "heroic age", a huge shift to try and return superheroes to the silver age feel of fighting aliens on the moon, rather than the grimdark anti-heroes of the 90's.

Ryan Reynalds as Hal Jordon. It still doesn't feel quite right to me. I know that character of Hal Jordon is meant to similiar to his appreance in The New Frontier where he's a hotshot pilot with a few black spots in his past but...well I just don't see that in Reynalds.

He's charismatic and has a grea physicality to him but I dont see top gun U.S Military flyboy when I see him. Quite frankly I think Jenson Ackles would've been a better fit. You only need to watch the first season of Supernatural to see what I mean. Besides, if your trying to make a B-Film with an A-Budget then why not go the whole 9 yards and GET a B-Actor.

If Reynalds HAD to be in a Green Lantern film, I would've preferred him as Kyle Rayner. Still I have high hopes. Abin Sur looks great, Oa looks incredible and from what we've seen of some of the other Lanterns like Tomar-Re, Kilowog and of course Sinestro, I think we're in for a wild ride.

thor and cap is mostly my extreme cynicism in regard to hollywood translating comic characters; frankly i heard the backstory theyre giving thor and immediately facepalmed. apart from being johnny storm, cap actually looks pretty good, but im committed to my pessimism, so im assuming johnny storm will ruin it.

havent read the new superman; i knew the pic was fake, but was still really worried after what i heard about wonder woman; glad to hear i was wrong.

lets hope marvel's crusade transfers over to hollywood so they'll ruin less of my favorite characters, but i wont hold my breath.

What story did they give Thor? I haven't heard anything yet so please excuse my ignorance.

I think it looks pretty good. I say we all give it a chance. Reynolds may not be a great "serious" actor, but I think he still a good actor. Not crazy about the suit, but it's good enough. Overall, it's not great, but not horrible. I love the effects and can't wait to see it.

I've always thought that Ryan Reynolds would've been better as Kyle too. I was thinking of Nathan Fillion as Hal but Jensen Ackles...I could see that too.

Everything other than that though, looks interesting. Looks like the main villain will be Hector Hammond, so I dunno what Sinestro will be. Probably a sequel hook.

I'm not aware of the story they're giving Thor, I assumed it was the pretty standard one of Thor is arrogant and pisses Odin off, he gets banished to Earth/Midgard unable to wield Mjolnir till he proves himself worthy. They seem to be cutting Donald Blake out, but that I don't mind it probably wouldn't work so well in film.

As for Cap my worries were fixed when I saw some of the pics, he really looks like Steve Rogers. As for the acting I don't think he's bad himself, he just doesn't seem to have any good major roles (I liked him in Sunshine).

well, it involves amnesia, so thats a red alert right there. it was a while ago, and i just checked it again; they seem to have omitted the bad parts from the synopsis, but that might be just because their bad, not that the story has actually been changed.

last i heard, thor was banished to earth for being a dick (pretty standard); but upon landing got *gasp* AMNESIA and now works as a doctor with his token love interest, knowing nothing of his godly origins. they have now mentioned how its supposedly just as much about the origins of loki, and assuming he isnt a janitor or something thats probably a good sign that theyre focusing on him. pretty much my worry is that theyre finding some way to turn thor into the incompetent boob anti-hero, which is strange because hedonistic, irresponsible norse god already fits that archetype well enough and is 1000x more interesting.

Uhhh you are aware that IS his origin story proper right? Thats pretty how it went down back in 1962 when Stan Lee and Jack Kirby created him. And to their credit Thor was actually rather well adjusted since he actually had the viewpoints of two sides: one as the superpowered God of Thunder whoe routinely fought against the likes of Fire Demons like Surter and the other as the humble Dr Donald Blake who did more mundane things.

Knowing this, I can pretty much guess that the movie will probably focus on Donald Blake running from SHIELD and how he deals with him recieving visions of his past back in Asgard, well thats how I'd do it but I'm not Kenneth Branagh so who knows how it'll turn out, but this really makes me wonder about the big three and how they'll get along.

For those not in the know, DC have Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman serving as the company's classic Power Trio with Supes serving as the Ego, Bats the Super-Ego and WW as the Id respectively. The Super-Ego working purely on logic, the Id purely on Intinct and the Ego being the force that balances them together (its not THAT easy but you get it).Marvel has something similiar with Captain America, Iron Man and Thor.
Thor always served as the Id of the group believe it or not. Knowing that they are trying to work in Thor's identity as Donald Blake, and RDJ's performance as Iron Man, makes me wonder if thats going to change any.
