thor and cap is mostly my extreme cynicism in regard to hollywood translating comic characters; frankly i heard the backstory theyre giving thor and immediately facepalmed.
What story did they give Thor? I haven't heard anything yet so please excuse my ignorance.
well, it involves amnesia, so thats a red alert right there. it was a while ago, and i just checked it again; they seem to have omitted the bad parts from the synopsis, but that might be just because their bad, not that the story has actually been changed.

last i heard, thor was banished to earth for being a dick (pretty standard); but upon landing got *gasp* AMNESIA and now works as a doctor with his token love interest, knowing nothing of his godly origins. they have now mentioned how its supposedly just as much about the origins of loki, and assuming he isnt a janitor or something thats probably a good sign that theyre focusing on him. pretty much my worry is that theyre finding some way to turn thor into the incompetent boob anti-hero, which is strange because hedonistic, irresponsible norse god already fits that archetype well enough and is 1000x more interesting.

Uhhh you are aware that IS his origin story proper right? Thats pretty how it went down back in 1962 when Stan Lee and Jack Kirby created him. And to their credit Thor was actually rather well adjusted since he actually had the viewpoints of two sides: one as the superpowered God of Thunder whoe routinely fought against the likes of Fire Demons like Surter and the other as the humble Dr Donald Blake who did more mundane things.

Knowing this, I can pretty much guess that the movie will probably focus on Donald Blake running from SHIELD and how he deals with him recieving visions of his past back in Asgard, well thats how I'd do it but I'm not Kenneth Branagh so who knows how it'll turn out, but this really makes me wonder about the big three and how they'll get along.

For those not in the know, DC have Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman serving as the company's classic Power Trio with Supes serving as the Ego, Bats the Super-Ego and WW as the Id respectively. The Super-Ego working purely on logic, the Id purely on Intinct and the Ego being the force that balances them together (its not THAT easy but you get it).Marvel has something similiar with Captain America, Iron Man and Thor.
Thor always served as the Id of the group believe it or not. Knowing that they are trying to work in Thor's identity as Donald Blake, and RDJ's performance as Iron Man, makes me wonder if thats going to change any.
Did you guys watch the trailer for Thor they posted at Comic Con? Thor lands on Earth, and the very first thing he says is "This is Earth isn't it..."

The plot will revolve around him being banished from Asgard, landing on earth, running from SHIELD, recovering his hammer to regain his powers, and then returning to Asgard to confront Loki.

He really should have said "Midgard", that's more Thor-ish.

Nice trailer, now impress me with the movie. Until I see the film, I reserve all judgment.

it feels like it might play like Van Wilder in space.
And who said that the internet has shortened our memories? We can't even let a guy go from a role he played almost ten years ago, even after he's done horror, indie drama, theater and action films to spare.
Now I feel old. I just mean that I hope it isn't too comedic, funny is good, but as many serious moments please.

As long as Kilowog (the big pink thing round the end) doesn't say "My Bad" I think it'll do fine.
