I'd just like to say first that I LOVE SKYRIM, and this thread is for people who actually DO like Skyrim. If you don't like the game, and don't have anything nice to say, just leave. Don't take this as a free invitation to troll.

Now, on to the topic. What complaints do you have about Skyrim? What are some little (or large) things that, even though you like the game, just get on your nerves? For me, there are a few things. For example, I found my first grievance in the character creation screen when I found I couldn't zoom in and out on my character. I also don't care much for the new third person mode: it works smoother, yes, but again theres no way to zoom in and out on my character and I can't rotate the screen with my weapon out. Another thing, I find it stupid that, even though my character has two hands, I can only wear one ring.

What about you guys?
I'm with you on the ring thing, i think certain enchantments should at be able to combine on a character if not all (operating on the assumption that one cant wear 10 rings at a time because enchantments on them would conflict, although this is a thin argument when you can wear all different enchantments on your armor). you can, in fact, zoom in on character in 3rd person, at least on xbox you click and hold RS and then move the view in/out with LS. you cant rotate the screen when you have your weapon out because you have to look around with LS, if they mapped movement AND direction to LS in 3rd person you would control like a warthog and combat would be insanely imprecise. on character creation, yeah..it is kind of a bummer you cant do that

Having to sit thru the same interminable starting sequence for each charecter that I make. Once is fine, thanks.
Just save the game before they call you up to the character select screen.

I'm not sure about consoles but on PC you can use the mouse wheel to zoom in and out, and if you hold the "Change perspective" button with weapons drawn you can rotate the camera with them drawn.

If you're playing on a console i don't think you'll be able to zoom, but try holding the change perspective key and rotating.

I do however agree with this

My only other complaint about the game is that you can't attack underwater, i know in real life you wouldn't be able to swing a weapon around underwater very effectively, but how else am i meant to kill slaughter fish???

Anyways, I don't like how I had a full suit of Daedric, Ebony and Dragon armor, including a ton of weapons from each, and every item upgraded to Legendary and they all vanished when I tossed them into a barrel in my house bedroom. I guess I don't like it how stuff respawns in your house, in your bedroom even.
DUDE. That sucks! I think I'm going to go check my save to make sure my stuff isnt gone!

I watched a buddy play for a little bit and the dungeons looked so linear. But they were really SHINY though !

I don't get Beth , they can create some decent outside areas, but they're dungeon design is so damn banal. Why is this so overlooked ? What ever happened to a finely crafted (somewhat) intricate dungeon ? If they can't fit everything, i would rather have the outside area smaller and some real deal fuckin dungeons ! Not this straight path bullshit.
How else are you supposed to create Dungeons though....they have always been linear, Dungeons are essentially a set of rooms, thats it. You cant really get any open-world stuff from them.

However, if there's ever been a game with open-world dungeons, please tell me, I'd love to play it :p

The thing annoying me most has to be the horse A.I. - I love my lovely horse, but keeping that thing alive is harder than trying to build up interest in Pokemon or Tamagotchi. The beast just keeps running away into the wilderness (bad idea) or engage the enemy (bad idea). It doesn't stay put as a dog would and every time I fast travel without the horse right next to me, I always wonder if the horse is still alive. Quite a nagging feeling, that. I hope it can be improved by either making the beast listen to commands or it at the very least just running away to a safe stable or something along those lines. Also, why are dragons so very keen on roasting my horse? I mean... here we are, shooting and blasting and shouting away at the dragon and he still feels like going after that one horse, my horse. What the melon farm?

Follower/mercenary A.I. is also not really up to par to some situation involving complications. Then again, I only picked up followers rather late in the game... I like their comments on things and their (different) responses to what's going on around us. Nice touch, but still a bit flaky.

The whole keyboard/mouse control mapping is somewhat odd and not too enjoyable. I did get used to it around level 50, but there's just not the amount of joy I want from a PC user experience. It's very obviously all "optimized" for gamepad control, so it has consequences for the whole user interface. Not much that can or will be done there, I fear.

What is bugging me is how my followers are constantly favoring their bows over their blades. I'm currently just doing jobs for the Companions to bring in some coin, and most missions I'll bring a shield-sibling. I've taken every single member on several jobs each, and EVERY SINGLE ONE of them draws their bow and starts shooting at the sight of enemies. Hell, poor old Cicero straight charged them with his blade, but big strong sword-wielder Farkas is going to fall back and shoot at them? I thought Aela was the Huntress here... :(

Just bugs me... Throws off my immersion.

Definatly the one ring thing, although if you could wear a ring on every finger, and tbh wear more than one amulet aswell like you could in real life, i could quite easily just make 10 +30% damage rings and kill everything with one hit... so its probably a balance issue.

Anyways so far my only real issue is with the dragons... Whenever i see a one that has spawned randomly overhead, it NEVER attacks me, it will just fly around in a circle for 20 minutes while i try and shoot at it... ive taken to just using the no clipping command to fly into the sky, hit it, then turn off no clipping and then carrying on the fight as normal once i actually engage the dragon.
Once you get through the main storyline far enough to get Dragonrend, that becomes basically a non-issue. It forces a dragon hit with it to land immediately and aggros them on you. It also has a relatively short cooldown (15 seconds with all 3 words), so you can usually get a few dozen off before the dragon decides to leave, and if you can't hit it with that, I'm not sure anything can be done.
ah, well thats something at least.. i havent played the main story at all so far, so i've had to do without this seemingly quite useful shout, dont get me wrong the dragons are probably the easiest fights ive had in the game.. but its actually getting the randomly flying around ones to aggro on me that ive found hard.

I hate the favorites system in this game. I miss the ability to hotkey spells like in oblivion. Not if I want to change from my sword to my healing spell I have to pause the game EVERY time. Kills the flow for me, I'm having a hard time getting into it for this reason.

Also the difficulty is insanely easy 90% of the time, the other 10% you just die out of freaking nowhere from half health. This is me being a noob I'm sure, but what decides when your character does the insta-kill animation? I keep winning fights for seemingly no reason. Swing *crit* one down swing *Impales on sword killing instantly from full health* nother guy down, swing *hit* swing *hit* third guy dies, swing *another sword impaling*, swing *crit* nother one goes down, *you are dead* what the fuck?

Oh and the friendly AI is abominably bad. I gave up on companions. They either fall behind and end up no help in combat or they somehow end up in melee range right when the game decides that melee swing crits. They also have a knack for standing behind me in tunnels so I can't retreat when I need to. And what the hell is with them all trying to start combat from range even when their characterization up to that point suggests they should favor their 2 handed weapon? They do this even when THEY HAVE NO BOW in their inventory.

Friend of mine plays speced into conjuration magic, every time he dies its because his flame antonarch won't behave herself.

This is more a cry for help. HOW DO I FIND MY COMPANIONS. I know I put Lydia around here somewhere, but I've spent about an hour and a half wandering around a square mile. Failing that, is there any way to call them, or dismiss them to my house, without actually talking to them?

God-damn mages. Seriously. I have to settle for busting the door open, rushing in and carving them up before they can react, otherwise they WILL smash me apart. Had a problem with a Conjurer, who summoned a frost atronach, and then blitzed me with ice magic until I couldn't walk anymore. I actually had to summon Hakon-Freaking-One-Eye to get anywhere. I tried so many times.

Also, dragon priests are devious. I fought my first one outside the portal to Sovngarde, and knocked him from the top of the temple. He survived the fall, but the draugr wight he summoned turned to ash a few minutes later, leading me to assume he'd fallen off the next cliff. After five minutes looking for his body, an enemy appears on the compass, and the music starts all over again. Turns out he'd gone through the temple to get back up to me.

Vokun, however, wasn't a problem. I had some Nord NPC called Anske or something along those lines, and Vokun was only interested in setting her on fire, and she was a tough *****, so things worked out.

The guild questlines are waaaaay too short. I feel like I've talked to 3 people, done maybe 4 fetchquests and suddenly I'm arch-mage. Who the fuck are you people and what's your story? It's hard to feel involved with the guilds this way, which is a big step down from Oblivion, really.
I completely agree for as far as the College is concerned. It's criminally short. I'm playing with the Thieves' Guild right now and that place feels a lot more real, with far more back story. It's also got more thievery content, which is great!

Don't look at the spool, it makes me sad.
LOL.

I love the game as it is, bugs and all. Even when NPCs intersect with buildings and do weird stuff like that. Even when my horse thinks it's invincible and thinks it can take on an Elder Dragon by itself. But sometimes (I mentioned in another Skyrim thread) the controls on PC really annoy me. For instance, sometimes when I click on an item menu or dialogue option, it doesn't activate the one I actually clicked on. Instead, it activates the one that the scroll button (WASD) is on.

Also! Dogs bark a lot. 50 hours in and I had to break up with my dog. I hired a cat. Nice and quiet, so much better. *Pets Kharjo*

It kind of bugs me how little money most stores have.
I often find myself fast-travelling to four or five different cities/towns to try and sell all my loot.

The AI on my horse. If I fight anywhere near it, the damn thing decides to join in, draws aggro from the entire group of enemies and promptly gets itself killed. Not to mention that I can't exactly blast them with fire with her standing in the way. It'd be much better if horses just ran from combat...

Basically this. Dragons are just way too weak in comparison to totally regular monsters you'll encounter while walking around. Kinda lame.

Where are these weak dragons everybody's talking about? I've yet to meet a random monster that was tougher than a dragon. A snow bear came close, but his lack of ranged abilities were his downfall, since I just ran in circles around a rock, slapping him in the face and running away to heal.

Not very Dovahkiin of me, but practical nonetheless.

are you playing on the PC? if you are you can go through the start once, keep the save it makes just before the dragon appears, and then just use the console commands to show the character creation menu again where you make your "new" character from there.
I have a save right before the character screen, a few seconds before they call ulfric stormcloaks name in helgen

The thread has a topic, you post things in threads relevant to the topic. Criticizing skyrim if you didn't like it can be done in a different thread started to do that.

The op wants constructive criticism.
