I think it's interesting. I wonder if it's based on the Brother's Grimm in similar front of story.
And, there's nothing wrong with it being on Friday Night, as if it was on Sunday it would compete with the reality junk, Mondays are like American Idol and drama shows, who knows what's on Tuesday, Wednesday is Comedy Central's South Park (nothing competes with it), and so on.
The PROBLEM with these series is that they put in too many blank filler episodes that drops audiences and has no cliffhanger to bring them back next week. What happened at one end or another of The Event? Don't know, wasn't memorable. What happened at the end of an episode of Game of Thrones? Kid got pushed from a tower, combat fight, death, and potential war and assassination plots. Those things INSPIRE! They add drama back to the theatrical performance on the screen. Sure, there's some filler parts, but those aren't the central points of an episode like they are in the other series. V's remake had a few great episode to remember (torturing of the lizard lady prior to killing her and acid on her body, the death of Anna's 2nd in command from assassination plot, the destruction of the plane that made to look like a terrorist thing),...but way too many fillers with the son (glad they killed him in that last episode).
