I enjoyed Planet Terror much more than Death Proof. On a side note, what's with Tarantio always playing rapists/deviants in movies? Maybe it's just because I watched From Dusk Til Dawn right before I watched Planet Terror.
it's much like Stephen King always playing Undertakers in his movies. not sure why he always has those roles but he always plays an odd cat in all his movies

I only saw the actual grindhouse double-feature, I heard the dvd releases had the 'missing reels' put back in. Seems so much funnier to have something about to happen, only to be presented with 'missing reel' and skipping to the next scene, lol

Deathproof had the best ending to a movie, ever.

In case you didn't know, it ends with
the girls beating the shit out of Stuntman Mike. The screen cuts to black right in the middle of one of them kicking him in the face.

I never watched Planet Terror, but Death Proof was kind of boring. The best part was definitely the commercials! I want to see Machete!

I gotta say, I saw the Double Bill in theaters and absolutely loved it, it was funny as it was well written, so when the DVDs came out, I bought them immediately, only to be ***** slapped because the publishers decided to only keep the Machete commercial
sadly and unsurprisingly there were licensing issues or at least concerns with the trailers, which were freaking awesome. that's why they were included on the dvd, Machette was because Robert Rodriguez made that himself, so he could include it.

there are rumours that they might make a couple of those movies as a Grindhouse 2 or something similar. the Eli Roth one and not sure the other but i'd love the Rob Zombie one

as for the funniest part in the Planet Terror part of Grindhouse is the love scene to burning building segue. there is actually nothing between those two parts of the movie, he had no idea how to make it jump from one to the other, so he put that cut in there and left it there
I doubt it, the movie bombed in the box office, made 14 million dollars less than production, but at least I did my part to contribute. Thanks though, at least you cleared up my bewilderment.

As for the part that I thought was the funniest, I loved the part when the girls jump for joy when they kill Stuntman Dave (or whatever his name was) I think what I like about that scene is that people tend to treat death with a serious tone, especially murder, but these hot young things treated the killing as if they won the world cup, brilliant in its sadism

One of my favorite movies.

Death Proof was better and the trailers were hilarious.

I loved Don't and Thanksgiving.

Grindhouse was Ok.... it was really weighed down by Death Proof which just... sucked. Basically Tarantino jerking himself off for an entire movie...

I liked the idea of the return of the double feature movie, with a brief intermission. Movies longer than 2 and 1/2 hours could benefit from these. The long movie could come back to the cinema, like the 4 hour version of LOTR and extended Watchmen.

For some reason I've managed to not watch those films, even though I knew from the moment I saw advertisements for them that I would enjoy them. Not really sure how I managed that exactly. I shall have nab a copy and watch it sometime.
