As a 29 yo female I thought I had grown out of them for a few years in my mid-20s when I just couldn't get into any game, then Assassins Creed 2 came along and for some reason I just couldn't stop playing. It was different to anything I had played previously. I had that excitement back.

I think a couple of things happened. Firstly I had a lot of other stuff going on which distracted me or seemed way more important. Secondly, although I reckon I've always been pretty discerning about the quality of games, my tastes changed as I got older, where the games that had been fun before were not as fun, too simple, immature, or whatever (to me) and the games that had seemed less interesting but were also critiqued well became more interesting (again to me) eg. from the age of 13 I loved and only really played FPS and RTS games. All on the PC. Now I mostly play action RPGs and 3rd person shooters on consoles, and most importantly, ones with good storylines.

My suggestion: Read a few reviews from sites you trust and pick a number of well-reviewed games from different genres. If you liked FPS or sports before, try RTS or action/adventure. Mix it up until you find something(s) you like, and then go from there.

Sometimes it just comes and goes. Everyone loses interest in something they like or even love sometimes. Personally I've already been though that phase, back when I was 14ish I lost interest in video games thinking I'd grown out of them but then Metal Gear Solid came out and changed my impression of video games forever. It happened again with WoW. Right now I'm 30 and I'm still playing games so there you go...:)

Losing interest in games because of a busy social life is not a bad thing.

Also, you do not need to apologise for your nigh-flawless English. You type like a native.
