Hey guys.
A while back a posted a discussion regarding how I felt about new media compared to older stuff. After I posted that forum I spent some more time thinking about it until eventually I came to the realisation that almost all of the things I watch on TV or film was stuff made before I was born.
Let me give you a rundown of my ?viewing history?. When I was a little kid I watched Saturday morning cartoons like a lot of people. But the stuff I preferred to watch was stuff from the 70?s and 80?s: the Flintstones, Hair-Bear Bunch, Transformers, Dangermouse, Dungeons and Dragons etc.
When I started watching live actions films, it was again stuff from before my time: the Star Wars trilogy, Indiana Jones, Dark Crystal, ET, Jaws, and even the TV I watched at the time was of that era: Starsky and Hutch, A-Team, Knight Rider, Blackadder etc.
So, almost everything I watched during my upbringing was stuff from before I was even born. So not only was I living in the past, but a past I never even experienced.
Even today most of the stuff I watch or have on DVD is 70?s or 80?s stuff. Nothing made during my time (with a few exceptions) ever connected with me as much.
Am I the only person who did this?
