So apparently this is a thing.

Cards on the table I think it might be good. I mean its a lifetime movie first off. Its not some big budget Hollywood Christmas movie. The reason it looks good is because Grumpy Cat's voice is good and they even seem to be breaking the 4th wall with this which is probably the only way something like this could work.

Is it going to be bad? Probably but still I'd give it the benefit of the doubt. I mean its better than The Annoying Orange or Fred show. So what do you think fellow Escapists? Am I the lone guy on the site that thinks this might be good?

Now that this is a thing the next obvious step will be a Grumpy Cat and Garfield crossover. Their kids will be adorably cynical and probably fat.

To be honest my main problem with the trailer is the voice actor for Grumpy Cat.

I get that it's that woman from Parks and Rec who plays a really grumpy character, but I think without her facial expressions a lot of the grumpiness is lost over voice.

I don't think Grumpy Cat is grumpy enough.

Oh, you think the meme movie is bad, but you didn't see Kirk Cameron's Saving Christmas trailer. I already saw it, was molded by it. I didn't see the grumpy cat trailer until I was already done; by then, it was nothing to me but mildly annoying.

Aubrey Plaza, get a new agent.
Seriously, how does someone with that much exposure and that much goodwill surrounding them end up working on something so blatantly shit?
Fuck this movie, fuck any movie based off internet memes.
Are you telling me you wouldn't pay to watch the sensation that's been sweeping the nation?

People are so hard on poor Aubrey Plaza. People can make all sorts of terrible judgement calls when they're high.

To be fair, you did ask for is opinion.

I can't say he's too far off either. I don't even think I could watch this drunk and get much out of it. And while I love laughing at terrible movies, this one is out of my league.

Well...

I agree that Aubrey Plaza needs a new agent though.

Is it going to be bad? Almost certainly, it's basically Garfield: The Movie on a smaller budget.

And it is purely for that reason that I'm going to watch it anyway.

Maybe she's a crazy cat lady and a fan of Grumpy Cat? Seems like a perfectly logical & likely explanation, and the same reason why I'm going to end up watching the movie.

I agree. She doesn't come off as "Grumpy Cat" to me. She actually sounds too perky.

Have you seen the Cinema Snob review of this movie? If not I would recommend checking it out. Though if you do make sure you find the one labeled "Kirk Cameron's Saving Christmas" first as there are actually two reviews now.

I, the, WTF is that video? That's a thing? I, I, I am just so glad I don't live in America (except I went there and it's awesome but still....)
Oh god, I heard this was a thing, but it's even worse looking than I could've imagined. For the record, most of us here in the U.S. think Kirk Cameron is insane too.

OT: I might've been willing to give this movie a chance if they somehow managed to get Roseanne Barr to voice the cat. But since that's not the case...

Also, why did they go with a Christmas movie? What part about "cat looks really pissed off" says heart warming holiday film?

Agreed she doesn't sound so much grumpy as she does medicated like hand full of Oxy medicated.

On the movie itself from the trailer despite the name and titular character it seems to have all the christmas tropes that i have grown to hate over the course of my life.

You want a good christmas piss take movie watch "The Ref".

There are movies that are so bad they manage to become entertaining, and then there are movies that are just a whole other spectrum of terrible. This fits into the later.

That is some horrendously bad voice over work. Not even so bad it's good. Just bad.
