'Technically' my ass. We didn't 'technically' launch a surprise attack on a Japanese military base and kill thousands of Japanese Naval personnel (to say nothing of additional civilian casualties). Secondly, do you realise how insane that sounds, starting a fight with someone, force them into submission, and then you say that the person you started a fight with doesn't deserve "A life of dignity" for the sole fact that he was your enemy?
Furthermore what they 'deserve' is completely divorced from what we owe them and means fucking NOTHING compared to what we owe our own. The American government OWED it to the American people to remove Japan as a threat to the American people. Permanently.
All other concerns were secondary and bordered on if not completely being irrelevant by comparison.
