Well, yes and no. Harmonix (creators of Rock Band,) made Guitar Hero 1&2, which is why they were great. Unfortunately, Activision bought the rights to Guitar Hero and handed the series to Neversoft (creators of the Tony Hawks games) to develop. And so in Guitar Hero 3, the 'feel' of the first two games disappeared to be replaced by corporate sponsorship, ridiculous ports to different consoles and a general sense of dull emptiness.needausername post=9.44957.632897 said:Rockband was made by a separate companyMonkeybone post=9.44957.632876 said:For my information, was Rock Band and Guitar Hero made by the same people, or were they seperate altogether? I never was much into the franchise, but I like the idea of seeing whether people saying 'no, it's dumb' might have made a bad call.
Guitar Hero 3 completely missed the point of the original games by making everything far too technical and difficult instead of fun. Which is why I own Rock Band instead.
Anyway, back on topic. It's a really, really dumb idea for Neversoft to try and beat Harmonix at their own game because unless their game is significantly cheaper than Rock Band (which it probably won't be,) then it's going to flounder desperately for support. Most of the people who've bought Rock Band are unlikely to buy GH: World Tour, simply because they aren't going to want to splash out money on new peripherals.
What Neversoft should have done is tried to make a more in depth simulation of the guitar to try and appeal to their more hardcore fanbase. Instead they've chosen to go head to head with the original creators of the game that they are now remaking...
