Any girls wanna play 'Flute Hero'?

Seriously, the game concept doesn't appeal to me; if I wanted to be instrumentally musical, I'd actually learn to play an instrument.

So, one downloadable song for Guitar Hero costs appoximately 1 to two dollars. Let's use guitar hero 5 as an example of how things work:

Guitar Hero 5 has 85 songs, and you can make your own. Guitar Hero 5 is 60 dollars.
Guitar Hero 5 DLC is 2 dollars a piece. That means that in order to get another 85 individual songs, you'd be paying an additional 170 dollars (approximately).

So, when it comes down to it, I'd much prefer that they keep making the games rather than releasing DLC, as long as I can keep using the same controller.
You make a good point, but nothing is to say that the next 60 songs they choose to make a game out of are songs you would enjoy. Say they took the 60 songs of the DLC that suck for tehir new game, would that be preferable to downloading say, 10 or so songs you actually find enjoyable enough to play rather than putting ALL of the potential DLC songs into a new 60 dollar game, whereas only about 10-20 dollars worth of the songs in said new game will be enjoyable? It may not be a problem if you generally like most music, but if you're like me you tend to be very VERY picky about what you listen to. I guess my point is that DLC allows you to control what songs you are paying for.
Actually, does anyone else find that songs on GH aren't fun to play if you don't like the way they sound, or do you enjoy playing GH just because of the thrill of playing a series of notes with correct timing?

Rock band has it right. I only download the songs I like (and some that my friends like) instead of paying $60 when I only like half of the songs. And, the companies probably make more off of DLC, I just bought Guitar Hero Metallica off ebay for $22, can't do that with DLC!

I'm locking forward to Rock Band: the Riot Grrrl Years. It could be like a timeline, starting with the old stuff, moving through Bikini Kill and Bratmobile then the female grunge acts like L7 and Hole then leading to the current equivalents like Mika Miko and Comanechi.
Make it happen MTV.

I'm over the guitar hero franchise. I loved, and played to death 1-3 on the PS2. I also picked up World Tour and Metallica for the 360.. and even though I'm a big Metallica Fan, I just got incredibly bored and never finished it, or World Tour.

I don't see myself picking up any other versions in the near future.

Shouldn't this be in the games forum?

Anyway, as long as they make money they will keep making the games at pace.

I can't wait for Guitar Zero

The only stages are your bedroom and the garrage where you shitty band practices. When you finish your song you upload it to youtube and people rate you out of 5. The only way to unlock new songs is to look up the tabs on ultimate-guitar.com

No, that was an 'Amercian Pie' joke. The rest was literal.

Well you see

Guitar Hero VI for June

Guitar Hero VII for December

I'm pretty sure by now a lot of the Guitar Hero games can now be copy pasted and tweaked
