We want Amon Amarth! and ALESTORM! And fun lesser-known bands like them.
Amon Amarth would be epic. I'd never heard of Alestorm, thank you for bringing them up so that I could find them.

I also second the calls for Iron Maiden and Led Zeppelin, though I'd prefer they just release anything like that just as DLC for World Tour, thats all these band games are, really.
They play Pirate Metal. T'is good althought I now have a reputation as "that pirate music weirdo".

Guitar Hero: Jonas Brothers. Because if we're gonna pretend to make music, we should pretend to make pretend music.

(Calm down, I like the GH and Rock Band series)

It's a shame that Muse doesn't have more songs under their belt. I know people loved Knights of Cydonia (I sure did) in GH3, but I've since heard Assassins and Hysteria. Both would make great GH songs.

I also was going to jokingly suggest Weird Al Yankovic. The I remembered that he actually has some pretty nice guitar-heavy songs. Can you imagine playing Albuquerque for the full 12 minutes?

I'd love to see Guitar Hero city collections. You could go a few different ways with it:

Guitar Hero Boston (Boston, Aerosmith, J. Geils Band, the Cars)
Guitar Hero Seattle (Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Jimi Hendrix)
Guitar Hero Chicago (any of dozens of blues musicians, just take your pick)
Guitar Hero Los Angeles (Guns N Roses, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Motley Crue)

Edit: Also, I personally would love to see Guitar Hero: Presidents of the United States of America, if only because their particular brand of guitar rock translates very well to the Guitar Hero style and format. Plus, you'd get Cleveland Rocks, and Cleveland has the second-best theme song of any city in the world (behind Dirty Water, of course---I was born and raised in Boston!)

...I'd say Red Hot Chili Peppers. Fantastic band, lots of well-known songs, very unique style...

But we probably won't see that. It'll probably be one of these new, inexplicably popular screaming metal bands.
I'd second that one, an extensive catalog of songs, with varying levels of guitar riffs, it would be perfect for the franchise. Plus I can sing Californication off by heart, and would like to see if I'm actually any good.

As for throwing out a band not mentioned, I'm surprised the Rolling Stones haven't been bandied about yet.

The Rolling Stones have gone unmentioned, so have The Who. Although I don't want to imagine Guitar Hero: The Who, if only because Activision would have trouble manufacturing enough guitar controllers to keep people supplied after they smashed them at the end of their play sessions.

Nightwish, Blind Guardian, Iron Maiden, The Who, Dropkick Murphy... Wait, wait. Never mind. I want Activision to sign a deal with Daisuke Ishiwatari.

I want Guitar Hero: Guilty Gear.

I'm pretty sure that would explode my console with sheer awesomeness.

Although I'd MUCH rather see them on Rock Band, in sticking with the topic at hand, I'd like to see a Rock Band GH: Queen and GH: U2
