Why the hell would you intentionally swallow chewing gum?
Because it is easier. Also if everyone swallowed gum there wouldn't be a piece of chewing gum lying on the pavement every 5 steps.

SPIT. ALWAYS SPIT.

I do NOT want to risk that shit clogging up my intestines or appendix or stomach or whatever.
You do know that chewing gum gets digested LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE YOU EAT. Right?

Spit.
My digestive system takes priority over the enviroment.
However I do try to place it in the best place.

I think Gideo Graves said it best:

You made me swallow my gum! That's going to be in my digestive tract for SEVEN YEARS!

But i still swallow my gum if i'm trying to hide the fact that i had been chewing gum. though my fucking weakass mylohyoid makes it kinda difficult.

I see you're fairly new.
well after the midget folding sheets thread I saw here today, I was ready for anything... and you have to admit the thread title was more than a little suggestive.

Some things can't be digested at all. And someone already put this link down saying gum is one of those things: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/digestive-system/an01006

Despite it not technically being something terribly awful for you, you wouldn't go round swallowing pebbles or erasers or other things that aren't actually food (causing your digestive system to go "Hey, what the... why'd ya stick this in me? Now I've gotta poop this out and it was all for nothing..."), so I avoid it. I just won't freak out if it accidentally slips down my gullet.

I buy sticks, not tablets. Therefore they come with a handy bit of foil and paper to safely wrap the used gum in. If there are no bins around, it can sit in my pocket awhile.

You'd really swallow it? I'm sure it can't do your intestines all so much good. Though I'll admit I've never tried dropping gum in 2M Hydrochloric Acid and seeing what happens, or slathering it in bile etc.

That stays in your stomach for 7 years!!

7 YEARSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know cause I'm a doctor.
Depends on your diet. Besides, I don't think there's a single recorded instance of swallowed gum sticking around for that amount of time (is there?). I've heard of plenty of hospitalisation because of excessive gum-swallowing (with coins or other indigestibles/chronic habit etc.).

Anyway, I don't chew gum any more these days, but when I did: spit.

It's made of latex or polyisobutene i.e. rubber. No, thank you. If there's a way of just keeping the xylitol, then I'd just have that and not bother with the gum (though to be fair, even that I don't really need).

Considering Gum is made out of either plastic or rubber, I don't want to take any chances with my stomach not digesting it right.

Supposedly, swallowed gum can stay in your digestive tract for 7 years. Scary, so I spit it out

Swallowing gum isn't bad for you, unless you do like a whole pack a time time several times per day.

I don't tend to chew gum, but when I do, I spit.

If there isn't a bin readily available, I'll find a wrapper or piece of paper and wrap it up in that until I can find one.

Ooooooooo, that's a shiny piece of paper! *meh* My poke that I don't want latex in my mouth was supposed to be slightly euphemistic, but never mind... -_-

It's not good for your body to swallow it and you can just put it in the bin both options are equally as bad.

Uh huh... sure.

OT - Spit, I don't swallow. The thought of swallowing gum is quite gross to me.
[small]And now to get these thoughts out of my head...[/small]

I always spit out the gum into a nearby bin or in the wrapper to dispose of later. I don't like the idea of something staying in my body for about 7 years.
