Wow, it's been a while since I said I was going to post about that project, but I guess late is better than never soooo.....I've added a new caliber to my ammunition shopping list; 5.45x39

As the basis of my first major gunsmithing project, I chose it for a few reasons, like it's low cost (it's still being imported by the crate-full, sometimes selling for as low as $0.12 a round), low recoil, excellent wound ballistics, and because I love AKs but already own two guns in 7.62x39.

Okay, now onto the project it's self, building a functioning rifle from a pile of parts. What you saw in my first post was first a bag containing a Bulgarian AK74 "Parts Kit", what was once a functioning Assault Rifle, de-milled (The receiver completely removed or destroyed) into what is now legally a pile of parts.

*Note*- I didn't take any pictures of my kit outside of the bag, but this one is of the same kind as mine (except for the furniture which is synthetic, rather than wood)
The next picture is of an AK-Builder flat, a 1mm thick piece of sheet metal with several crucial holes cut into it, which (After alot of bending, marking, drilling, welding, and heat treating) will serve as the gun's new receiver later on.

And that's my introduction for now. Since I've come to the conclusion that I'll never get around to writing one big post on the build, I've decided to break it up into several parts, answering questions in between.

So what do ya' Think?

Currently have two guns.

1) Taurus 92AFS Full Frame Stainless Steel 9mm. I got it for it's cheap ammo and it's gorgeous. It's large, heavy, and quite accurate. It's my shooting for fun and qualifing gun.

2) S&W bodyguard 38. I got it spefically for concealed carry. It's small, lightweight, and a revolver so there's less things to go wrong with it. It also came with a laser sight which while near, isn't overly accurate.
