So it was after school today and I was at football practice. Just as practice was ending and my teammates and i all gathered around our coach when see the school athletics director walking towards us. She tells us that the police have surrounded the building as there was an armed man in the lower part of the building who had crawled through a window to escape from police. Suffice to say no one on my team could get there stuff from the locker room. Luckily we all found ways to get home despite the temporary loss of glasses phones keys and uniforms (catholic school) we also had to bring our pads home. Anyway just wondering if anything equally exciting happened in your school, job, etc?

My high school was placed on lockdown when some parent spotted an adult carrying a rifle in the building.

Turned out to be one of the teachers with an Airsoft weapon intended for a physics experiment which he did every year.

The only thing I can think of that matches is that is that we used to get bomb threats every once in a while at our high school. Most of the time we weren't outside that long, but one time we were forced outside almost all day. Thankfully, none of the bomb threats ever turned out to be credible.

bomb threats and shooter threats on the sides of bathroom stalls. once in middle school, again in high school (over the phone) but what these idiot kids don't realize is that it's not gonna get school canceled, it's gonna make school much more annoying with all the metal detectors, cops, dogs, locked doors, secret knocks, soviet spies, barracudas, etc.

but no, my old high school was pretty boring.

Someone in my middle school set a locker on fire. And if I remember right, the reason was he just wanted to leave school early.

School was evacuated. Since it was a Friday, all our stuff was left in our lockers for the weekend, which sucked because my iPod was among the stuff in my locker.

There was a stabbing at my high school that sent it into lock down for a bit. There was also a shooting at a hospital near my school that also caused a lock down.

That's about a close of a call as I've had with that sort if thint.

2 hour lockdown 2 years ago because of a robbery at a nearby supermarket/bank, and there was a panic he might try to hide in a high school with 3000 people and an active police presence.

Also, just last thursday the other high school in my district was shut down because someone found a bullet on a locker room floor, and they brought in the feds to search everyone's bags.

A gunman at my old college walked onto campus. Somebody spotted him and reported him. The entire school went into all-out lockdown.

Turned out it was a camera tripod.

No lie, the highschool I graduated from got about 10 bomb threats a year. Every time that happened, the football field was thoroughly checked for threats, everyone is corralled out to there, and then tons and tons of cops and dogs (with a helicopter or two on sky-watch) and they sweep the entire school a dozen times. Honestly, there never was a bomb and we all just got sun burnt and bored, then went home.

Well, there was the great fruit fly infestation of the seventh grade, as well as the guy who came into the school with a rifle when my sister was in eighth grade.
This was my middle school, though.
I'm in high school now, and few exciting things have happened so far.

A Grade 12 Chemistry class once burned down an entire wing of my old high school.

Closest thing like that that ever happened to me was when someone left the gas for a bunsen burner in one of the chemistry labs on, without a flame. It wouldn't have been that bad, but the idiot had done so right before lunch started, and so there was no one in the room to notice it for an hour.

The whole building had to be evacuated while they cleared the gas out.

Nothing's really happened at my school, but I have a friend from Canberra who said that the year his sister went to his school, it was known as the best school in A.C.T (Australian Capital Territory), but when he went there, it was known as the most violent school.

He said they had about six fires every year, and one time when they went into lock down because there was a sex offender in the school, one of the students went out to each of the rooms, knocked on the door and ran away. The school never found out who it was.

Not that I've experienced personally, though in my Senior year of high school, some kids decided to play dodgeball in the crossover between the east and west sides of the school...

Other than that, not much happened.

As a prank some kid at my old high school took a backpack from his friend and taped it to a flag pole right outside.

Needless to say, the officials thought it was a bomb, people were called, yada yada.

No but we're... not allowed, but there are looks the other way if you want to bring one to school. there are rules of course. You have to have a license, you have to have permission from parental figures if you're under their jurisdiction, you have to have a good enough reason (usually it involves coming in late/leaving early to go hunting, of which Ive done before). And you cant actually bring it into the building. it has to stay in your car, and you cant bring it with you on the bus, so you have to be able to drive to school. if you walk to school then you have to leave it int he principals office after being escorted by an armed school officer who handles your weapon.

You also cant wear rings, necklaces, chains, or some earings in my school either (as we've had a fight break out before and someone cut another kids face up so badly with rings on his hands tha the kid lost an eye, was disfigured, and had to have some facial reconstruction to get him to the point he is today [which is somewhat presentable]).

...

Though we did have a kid bring a gun to school and aimed it at some girl who, in his mind, had wronged him nd was going to shoot her. He got as far as aiming at her face and shouting her name before the shool officer shot his shoulder and two students shot out his knees.

...

And we had a bomb threat once, which wasnt as fun as it sounds when you have to gather on the football field for an hour in the freezing cold, possibly without a coat if it was in your locker, only to be ushered in after the shcool decided and then undecided three times that they were going ot send us home early (though if you had a car and your locker was cleared or if your parents want to dive up and get you, you could go home early).

Nothing at all really. We have drills sometimes.

Once actually, our boiler was becoming overpressurised, and near bursting. We went out, and then, after an hour of lying on the grass in the middle of spring, in absolute comfort, listening to music, we were taken back inside. Missed a test I hadn't studied for because of it.
