Your source has killed itself.

I did see this on the news though and, he looks so friendly! Scary little bastard!

My Uncle was attached to the Gurkhas a few years back, said they're a dangerous bunch. Apparently he's one for understatement.
My Uncle Harry was in the Gurkhas.

Didn't know much about him sadly, I was only about 4 when he died.

When will people learn not to fuck with Gurkhas? I posted a similar example of gurkha badassery a while back:

As for prejudice against them, not something I've ever come across. Generally I think the British have a ton of respect for them.
Well there was that whole incident with Ghurka soldiers getting smaller pensions a few years back.
Not to mention that it was only very recently that they were allowed to claim residency here. For soldiers who fight so hard alongside us, we really did/do treat them poorly.

I have a lot of respect for the Gurkhas, always have done, always will do, there's no other soldier I'd want watching my back in a fight.

It's a shame Audie Murphy died, those two could probably have won every war single handedly if they were teamed up.

Holy, balls,Batman! That man is a one man army! And I thought JTF-2 was badass...
They do the same things they just don't get the publicity lol. Love how secret our boys are :)

But yeah this dude is freaking epic.

Edit: There is also the fact that JTF-2 run very different operations, if they are facing 30 people it means that something has gone very wrong. Actually if anyone knows about them being there at all it's pretty much a screw up from someone.

Absolutely an amazing guy, and thoroughly deserves all of the decoration and all of us knowing his name.

Thing is that by the standard of the Gurkhas, this guy is about average :p Their exploits are pretty much legendary, wherever they have fought they've left a trail of dead bad guys and medals and against the odds victory. Amazingly brave and unflinchingly loyal guys.
I have no idea what is about their culture that makes them such good fighters, but damn, If I had to be in a combat situation, I damn well want a Gurkha watching my back.
I think its their history. Obviously not everyone from nepal is a superhuman warrior :p But those who join the Gurkhas I think know the standard that the previous generations have set, and they feel the drive to push that even higher. I think that if you were in a foxhole somewhere being scared and confused, thinking back to nearly 200 years of amazing feats, and the desire to live up to that would put me on my feet and running to the gunfire instead of away. You just can't be a coward if you think like that, and I suspect that how they are wired.

There amazing. Did u know that in the Falklands the Gurkhas used to travel into encampments in the middle of the night, unfortunately, since it was night they where unable to tell if it was a British encampment or Argentinian. But they noticed that the Argentinians and British tied there boots differently. Theyd stroke the boots of soldiers and that would be enough to let them know which army the sleeping person fought for and if they were Argentinian theyd slit their throats.
There are one or two stories of British soldiers waking up to someone feeling there boots and now knowing wtf was going until years afterwards

He's a Gurkha, he is the guardian angel, British soldiers love being in the same squad as these guys.

Maybe the British people, but not the British Government. They have been fucked over for years with Gurkhas who served in the British Army before 1997 denied the right to settle in Britain. This means that VC recipients from WW2 were denied emigration rights. This was corrected in 2009 thankfully, but they took their damn time.

Oh and the Gurkhas are Nepalese, not Indian.

Yeah...what the fuck do you have to do to get THAT?
Probably because as the sentry he shouldn't have let them get that close. That is actually fairly common, that great acts of bravery are not awarded with a VC because the hero actually screwed up a bit in the first place.

Hehe, so even Gurkhas make mistakes. But when they fix them, they fucking fix them properly.

They practically don't give them out at all. It has only been awarded twice to living people since 1965. I think that you mostly need to not only be incredibly heroic and generally badass, you need to save other people as well, normally multiple times.
