[HEADING=2]The World Ends With You[/HEADING]
This game, this fucking game, holy shit.

>Innovative gameplay? [HEADING=1]CHECK[/HEADING]

>Storyline with twists?[HEADING=3]DOUBLE CHECK[/HEADING]

>ANGSTY TEENAGER (As is in a Squeenix game) AS THE PROTAGONIST WHO TURNS OUT TO BE A PRETTY COOL GUY?

[HEADING=2]TRIPLE CHECK[/HEADING]

Y'all got nothing on this game. Not even Okami. That's right Daystar I'm calling you out on this one.

OK legitimately that instant I saw this thread I thought of Psychonauts.
Im not really good at describing games I like but this is a fucking masterpiece
Maybe it's because I picked it up for like $10 at a game store when I had some spare change and was blown the fuck away by everything, its humor, its creative premise, its characters, its story, its levels are just perfect. If you think this game is bad I will fight you
Even when the game got something wrong I didn't care, fuck that I'm in some dude's mind dicking about with his sanity.
Every level was unique, every level had a story behind it, a theme, and every level was amazing. Every character had their own personality, things they were doing at every point of the game, relationships with other characters and reacted to everything you did realistically.
Seriously, a Godzilla level, the Milkman Conspiracy, suicidal cheer squads, The schizophrenic camp guardian, everything fits together perfectly.
Fuck

I am going to post again on 2 games I thought were made to perfection and the music included in both games are something I would kill to get ahold of:

Super Metroid(SNES) - the boss fights rocked, the end fight rocked the items rocked and the music was forged out of pure awesome.

Extreme G(N64) - love it, the techno songs played in this game made it more badass. The loops, turns, and death rate made this game forged out of pure adrenalin.

Metroid Prime. Many games and movies are praised for being executed well, not so many for avoiding the disasters they potentially could have been. Prime not only successfully transplanted one of my favourite franchises into the world of 3D at long last, but avoided the dreaded 'polygon ceiling' we saw so often when other franchises like Earthworm Jim and Castlevania went 3D, gaining enough of a positive reception that sequels were planned out far quicker than the original 3 games.

There is a detailed story in Prime delivered mainly through scans. If you don't care and just want to blast creatures into globs of green blood running down your visor, you can completely ignore it if you wish. As Yahtzee mentioned in his review of Resident Evil Revelations, scan an enemy in Prime and you will learn its name, how best to kill it, and a few other details. And this is only half the detail from a field scan- you can go to the logbook once you've scanned and get the entire story.

All the beams and visors have uses. All the movement systems are more than mere window dressing. While I'm only good enough to use a handful of them, the first Prime had offered as many opportunities for sequence breaking as the classic Super Metroid with dedicated players. The Space Pirates have finally evolved into a truly dangerous menace beyond their vicious space-dragon commander Ridley, now possessing cloaking fields, jet packs, beam-resistant armour, arm scythes and EMP grenades as well as their own theme music. And they have been mining a strange glowing blue substance that apparently makes stuff stronger and crazier.

I loved the whole trilogy, but this is Samus at her Prime.

Jak 2. My favorite game of all times.

While I can't honestly repeat the story to you (Last time I did a whole playthrough of it, I didn't know english that well, and the game's not in Swedish) I can describe the gameplay. It's got excellent platforming, amazing shooting combat and soul-crushingly difficult races.

I think platforming though is what I love about it the most. While it's not entierly a platformer, the ones it's got is some of the best I've ever played. The best thing about it, and something I don't get why no modern games have anymore, is that your jumps aren't locked. When you jump, you can still move around in the air. That's a problem I had with Uncharted 2. If you miss at the beginning of the jump, you're fucked.

The jumping in that game's also too damn scripted, so if you don't land on that pin-point location, you fail. Jak 2 is more dynamic and open with it's platforming. It's also fun how you can combine fighting moves into the jumps to actually aid you at times. The best thing about that though is that it's not something you're actually intended to do, but if you figure it out, you're free to go nuts with it.

Why I love the shooting combat is that, like the jumping, it can integrate fighting moves. They are not "combos" per-say, but they are speciall attacks you can preform if you time your punches to your shots right.

I don't think I wrote this very well, and unless I'm given, like... 2 days, I don't think I can. It's such a great game on everu level, that I really need to be super structured in order to present it with the respect it deserves.
