Does anyone have any weird/unusual habits in videogames?

For example, in WoW I ALWAYS go to an inn and either /sleep or sit in a chair before I log out and in FPS games I reload after every kill (not alway a good idea, however...)

So yeah, habits.

I have this niggling need to poke at EVERYTHING in-game. Exploring Fatal Frame 2 took me forever the first time because I kept trying to open drawers and doors and closets.

Whenever I meet an NPC I don't like, and I'm able to, I quick-save. I proceed to kill them, laugh, and quick-load. Then I decide whether to kill them "for real" or not.

I hearth/log so I can go wherever I want, even alt f4 if dal is laggy once my stone is used. Back when I played that evil waste of life called wow.

I try to min/max wow terms yeh. I always like to play on the hardest setting (or normal on STALKER lolol) for maximum challenge and I do things to make the game more challenging, like only using certain guns or whatever to make it harder. I play games for challenge, story, or scares.

I have a tendency to waste bullets in FPS games to see how the environment handles it. In RPG games I tend to over-level because I'm naturally cautious[footnote]been that way since the first time I played a Dragon Warrior game[/footnote]and if I'm given the choice between grinding for an item and buying it, I'll grind. Getting experience and free shit? Hell yes!

I will always try to keep my gun fully loaded. Even if I only take one shot, I'll reload.

In games where you can customize your character, I always go completely overboard. I don't just think about what would look cool, I think about what kind of character I want to be and how my character would fit in the fictional game world. Also, if I'm like a merc or something, then I always use some kind of codename, then have a paint scheme that matches the codename. Such as in Armored Core(mech game where you pilot robots as some kind of mercenary) I named myself Archangel, made each of my five robots have a blue and white color scheme, then named each of my robots after an angel in the Catholic religion. So... yeah...

Oh, and I can't leave enemies behind. It really annoys me. Unless it's part of the game where you have to run, with infinitely respawning enemies.

In the Crash Bandicoot games, I will kill myself in the levels where you can't go back for missed boxes several times until I get them all. On my first run-through.

Also, I usually only save my Pokemon games in Pokemon Centers, though that stems from experience with Pokemon Stadium for the N64.

In RPG's I always grind at each area to redicioulous amounts, Like at FFX I hit 9999 with Rikku and Auron by the time I was in the calm lands >.>

I noticed this while playing F.E.A.R. earlier, I always put a few extra bullets into an enemy as they're dying, just to make sure. I do it in all FPSs. Not good for the ammo supply.

I develop and memorise strategies for RTS games, particulary the very first few beginning seconds. I become paranoid if I lose any of those seconds. For instance, I have around 8 different strategies for the first moments of Forged Alliance. I will adopt one according to the playing conditions.

So, I may think "oh, I have a twenty-minute no rush on, therefore I'll use that to first build some essential resource gathering buidings. Four Mass Extractors, and then a Factory for mobile units. It can upgrade while I build power and upgrade the mass extractors..."

It will get to a point where I can predict how long stuff will take to build, the optimum order to queue stuff and how to make the most of a very little. I consistently use very few resources and units, have the smallest base, but out-class my opposition in quality. This is a game that can have up to 1000 units per player, yet I regularly use less than 250 units (buildings included).

I consider myself obssessive, and sometimes I don't even think it helps make me a better player. It just satisfies my obssessive need for economy.

Because your example made me think of it: Whenever I play Pokémon Ruby, I always have to hide in a spot where the camera can either not see me, or can only see my hair before I save and quit. And worse yet, it always has to a different place. Eventually, I start getting very creative.

I have to always use the melee weapon if I can. Bioshock, half life, fallout 3 when I am going up against something with average difficulty and infamous for example.

In RPGs, I always have to collect something utterly random and useless just for the hell of it. Petty soul gems in Morrowind, pewter bowls in Oblivion, Westcliff cod in Fable II, and garden gnomes in Fallout 3, to name a few.

I always fire one to three round bursts when using any gun at any range. It's funny to see people around you wonder why your rapidly clicking the mouse while using a machine gun. I also used to loot entire buildings bare just to sell them in Morrowind, but stopped when Bethesda programmed AI to be able to go into different cells at will.

Every time I get a new game I'll tool about with the options before anything else.
If it has character customisation that's my weekend gone.
Sniff the manual. Always sniff the manual.

I tend to develop OCD when it comes to character creation systems. If my character doesn't look just right, I'll start a new game. You have no idea how long it took me to finally start Mass Effect!

In RPGs I have to find all the treasure and kill all the enemies in any given area unless the enemies are too strong... or they keep respawning and I'm just getting annoyed.

In FPS single player campaigns, I have to kill all the enemies before I move on. (The exception being the L4D games)

In morrowind whenever i play through I kill everyone who isnt essential to the story/guild stuff. then when I complete said story I go back and kill everyone else. I would do it in more games if it was possible.
