I save almost constantly. And I almost never use my health packs/medigel/whatever other names they use if I can help it. For some reason it doesn't occur to me that I'll probably pick more up just by walking two steps and there's no need to conserve them.

I'm terrible in PC games with a quick save option. Most of the game I have a finger resting on it and I wouldn't go for a whole minute without hitting it unless I was unable to save (like in combat). If I have to go to a menu to save I hardly worry about it. Also I never overwrite saves unless it is more than 5 hours old, I run out of save space (stupid mass effect 1...) or the game forces me to have only one save slot.

It's not even that I'm paranoid about dying or anything crashing. I just like quick save.

Also I feel more of a need to buy/collect "cosmetic items" (items that serve no real purpose) over actually useful ones. Like in Mass Effect 2 I would always buy fish and spaceship models before caring about upgrades and such. I figure even if I don't have the greatest weapon available in the game I'll still be able to kill everything anyway.

And I hate to use one/limited use items. Not many games that I've played recently have them but I finished Baldur's Gate II with the same limited use wands that I picked up in the first dungeon. I like to save them in case I really need them.

I roleplay in every game. For example in Red Dead I always walk, not run, in saloons and such. And I never used mauser or high power pistol in the game because that time was for revolvers!

I have the urge to explore everything. I collect keys, books, and rocks in games. I have been known to attack quest important npcs and monster that are much stronger than me. I also constantly reload.

I always find cover and keep clear of fresh corpses, ever since CoD4 came out back in the day. Martyrdom has scarred me for life.

In games where you can customize your character, I always go completely overboard. I don't just think about what would look cool, I think about what kind of character I want to be and how my character would fit in the fictional game world.
I'm exactly like this.

My friend, watching me play Oblivion: "Join the Dark Brotherhood, they have fun quests".
Me: "OK. Just give me 30 hours to role-play a slow descent into doubt, a loss of honour, disillusionment, and a perspective-shattering event that solidifies the descent into madness."
Friend: ... "Or you could kill that guy for the initiation rite."
Me: "But that wouldn't be in character at all!"

Oh, and I can't leave enemies behind. It really annoys me. Unless it's part of the game where you have to run, with infinitely respawning enemies.
I'm also guilty of this in Bethesda games. When I entered Paradise, I originally planned to be non-violent, but ended up killing everyone with a name, because they were looking at me funny. Yes, this was still in-character for my guy.

In Fallout 3, I even managed to hunt wild dogs to extinction with my obsessive need to kill every dog in a pack.

in L4D2, I have the "switching to your pistol is faster than reloading" syndrome when fighting hordes. Also, I NEVER drop a weapon with the laser sight on (even if I have the silenced smg w/ laser and I come across and m16.)

I waaaaaaay over level up in RPGs (I'm looking at you FFX, 150 hour save slot and I haven't even met Wakka yet :p)

I reload after every kill.
I never play with unsportsmanlike weapons or classes in shooters.
I always play like a big bad in my first play trough in any morale based game. Fallout3/Dragon age

I choose to answer in song.
----------------------------------

Smash every barrel, hunt high and low,
Follow every path, defeat every foe.
Jump every rooftop, beat bandit gangs,
Loot every chest, unless it's got sharp fangs.
A suit that will need, all the money you can spend,
& some oversized weapons, just hope the colors blend.
Club every monster, do all the quests,
Sell every loot drop, hey look at that girls breasts.
Grind every level, build your talent tree,
Complain when you loose stuff you bought that wasn't free.
A horse that will need some armor of it's own,
Now attempt to do a group quest all alone.
Stockpile on ammo, select & take aim,
Run every dungeon, until you win the game.

I'm reliable prey for three of these foibles, but I blame bad game design.

Chronic Reload Syndrome - there's no downside to reloading your firearm after every isolated shootout because no game forfeits your unspent rounds. Shooters would be more realistic and strategic if this were the case.

Chronic Quicksave Syndrome - worth the time, every time, because so many games regularly fuck you with bullshit sucker punch deaths. There are more than a handful of games that are tolerable only because death sets you back all of five seconds.

Chronic Goody Two-Shoes Syndrom - Yahtzee harps on this all the time, but it's 100% true; the dark half of almost every moral choice system is laughably absurd. If the "evil" route has none of the moral ambiguity or concrete motivations of real life, I'm not interested.

(FPS)
I reload when I don't have to, which get me killed a lot.

EDIT: Also, I save a lot. Sometimes I'll save my game, run around a corner and see a closed door and I have to save my game again.

Oh goodies someone else does this too.

I also always use either a stealth or medic class in every game that allows you to, even if its one on one i still have to.

I get Kleptomania, bad. In Morrowind and Oblivion, I spent hours checking every crate and barrel and stealing anything worth more than 20 gold. Yet I refused to ever buy any equipment because I could get it for free. Through theft.

As for morality, I have a bad habit of refusing to be on either side. I'm alway neutral, and I always pay for it.

i have a set of playthroughs that i do on almost every linear game.

playthrough1: story playthrough where i will usualy put the game on medium/hard dificulty and pay close attention to the story

playthrough2: trophy playthrough where i go through all the levels collecting everything and trying to get trophies.

playthrough3: legendary/insane/extra hard playthrough where i play the campaign on its hardest difficulty (on some games like CoD4 this is the longest playthrough)

once ive done these i then move onto the multiplayer if the game has one.

I always take rediculous amounts of ammo with me in games. Never want to be caught with my pants down I guess...

You guys/gals (just to make sure :p) are not the only one. I reaload after a fight even if there are 3 bullets fired out of a clip (smg or machinegun etc.) because I think it could just be those few bullets that could count in the next figt. Oh yeah, gets me killed too.

After every engagment I reload, even if I only fired once or twice.

This is a lot more noticable in CoD, but after I spawn, I always pull out my secondary weapon and put it straight back. I still have no idea why and I can't seem to stop it.

Does anyone have any weird/unusual habits in videogames?

For example, in WoW I ALWAYS go to an inn and either /sleep or sit in a chair before I log out and in FPS games I reload after every kill (not alway a good idea, however...)

So yeah, habits.

- Doddsickle
Yeah, i can relate to this.

I have a weird habit, before i play i always clean the dust out of my console and wash my hands. I hate greasy controllers lol.

Think back on it makes me fell kinda silly thought :p
