It's interesting how (presumably) bedroom coders for the PC seem to be making stuff for Kinect that's more awesome than professional teams (or Microsoft themselves).
We don't know what they can do, its just a matter of whether it could fit in a game, and if it would make money.

These guys are doing it for the hell of it and have no boundaries.

IMAGINAAATTIIIOOOONNNNN!!!!

OT This does seem really cool, it was not two days ago I read about the kinect hacker who allowed the kinect to take pictures of him and make statues of the picture in the game. Imagine the hacks ten years down the line.

Am I the only one who thinks that new-gen robot-battle tournaments are not so far away now?
That would be awesome
You say that now but when they become self-aware we'll all be for the wood chipper.

I would like to purchase 500 of these for a world domination personal project. Address them to my Volcano Island Doom Fortress apartment.

On a totally unrelated note, I'd also like to purchase 1000 laser guns. For a totally separate project of course.

Yeah... Me too.

Evil you say? Noooo...How can you say that? I am a paragon of good and...Screw it!

Bow down before your new world leader! MOHAHAHA!
I think some issues might arise when a lot of people get the same idea and all meet up with robot armies of slightly differently painted colours on the same volcanic island.
It'd be a hell of news broadcast though...

I got to give them a big thumb up for using a Mobile Suit from the Gundam series (MSM-07S Z'Gok Commander Type). I am getting a feeling we will see a remote controll militery robot soon in the future (I can't think of a montion control robot from a shows or film etc).

Just make the robot larger...and put the person with the kinect inside of it.
Agreed - this is the holy grail of mecha-pilot interfaces. NERV can take their evangelions' double-yoke control scheme and cram it.

Am I the only one wondering exactly why so many of these people have expensive equipment, software, computers and bloody robots but so very few of them can be bothered buying a decent camcorder.

As soon as I saw that video I thought "CUSTOM ROBO ARENA!"
Make it so, science, make it so.

Sorry to burst your bubble guys but imagine trying to stand up in a mech. Walking is a jerky motion so when the mech steps forward, it will knock you off balance. Your unbalanced motions will be read by the mech as movement and before you know it you'll be tits over arse on the ground.

Damn, ninja'd! =/

But yes, it really does look suspiciously similar to Char's Z'Gok:

Oh well, I guess that is as good of an excuse as any to listen to this song :p:

Epic. I give it two months before human controlled mini-robot battles becomes a new gambling sport. Just strap some wheels onto their feet (well, depending on how big the arena is and how much space they give the people, I guess you might be able to walk around normally) and a pellet gun for ranged attacks, and you're good to go. Hell, I would watch it.

If it can do the Thriller dance... I'm going to shell out the money and sell out my beliefs just for this.

I wonder has anyone ever bought a Kinect to... y'know... connect it to the XBox?
