It's interesting how (presumably) bedroom coders for the PC seem to be making stuff for Kinect that's more awesome than professional teams (or Microsoft themselves).
It's also interesting how (presumably) commentators on Internet forums are overlooking how much of this "more awesome" stuff done with Kinect is basically novelties with little actual gameplay or home utility. Unless you think that MGS and its developer partners need to ship jiggle-boob and robot-virtualisation software to game retailers...

I'm all for admiring the ingenuity of those bedroom coders (or their lab-based counterparts) but let's be fair with the comparisons here. Aside from a few user interface hacks that are impressive (and which may or may not be in the pipe, given the CES keynote and hints) so far I've seen nothing from the home-brew coders that I'd willingly pay to use.

When I see a home-brew Kinect game worth buying*, that's when I'll start drawing conclusions.

* It'd be awesome to see an indie game on the Marketplace that used Kinect to good effect. If one came up, I'd buy both in a heartbeat.

Well the world is supposed to end in 2012 right? Looks like Skynet might become a reality after all if they keep this up :)

That would be awesome
I remember an old show where people designed combat robots that fought each other. It was canceled sadly. They were little more than tables with wheels at their core, but then people added spinning blades, arms to flip opponents, etc.
But yes, robot fights with control like this could be cool. We're one step closer to real life MechWarrior/S.L.A.I! This is amazing! Wait...
*hides in bunker to wait out inevitable war between gigantic robots with WMD.

....OMG I JUST REMEMBER THAT SHOW...i was such a huge fan of them when i was a kid

This...

Also I love the amount of hacks and mods people are createing with the Kinect. It speaks wonders to what people can do with alittle time and knowledge.

I found it funny he used a Mobile Suit from Gundam...

Maybe one day what he did with Kinect Plus this...

oh god....our fate is in the hands of a Kinect Hacker...wheres Chuck Norris When you need him?
