Load of rubbish im afriad, I actually cannot remember the last time i've encountered a hacker online, they really are not common at all. Of course plenty of people accuse anyone who is especially good at a game of hacking, so theres that.

EDIT: also, things like quickscoping are NOT hacks, you may well think they arent in the spirit of the game but as long as something is within the realms of the games mechanics they are not hacks.
how to deal with this? future games can either incorporate them into the games intended mechanics, or design their game to remove them. (much like how many modern games slow you down after jumping to make bunnyhopping impossible, or how TF2 forced the sniper to charge up his shots to force a slower pace to sniping)

So...

If (Player 1 > Player 2)
{
Player 1 = Hacker; Player 2 = victim;
}
Else
{
Player 1 = n00b; Player 2 = skilled;
}

That about sum it up?

Maybe - and I'm just throwing some stuff around here - maybe they're actually decent at the game from practice. A good friend of mine has been banned for hacking from a GameArena Counter-Strike server. I was sitting watching him play; he is seriously just that good.
You forgot to add a Try-catch to that, that If-else statement is too volatile!

OT: This is severely misinformed, and for every "hack" and "cheat" that is actually just people exploiting mechanics there is usually a grenade related way to beat them if you try and not just go to the internet and whine about it.

Also, mouse may be more accurate than controller, but controller is comfier than keyboard and mouse.

At this point, legitimate gamers are of the minority.
No, they're not. Not in the games I play at least. What I do see very often is players who are terrible calling players who aren't "hackers". Then you get the poor sods who are actually GOOD at the fucking game and get called hackers every other kill.
In my double digit years of playing videogames, about 8 years of online FPSs, I could probably count the number of true hackers I've found by the fingers in both hands. The crushing majority of the time it's just terrible players complaining about decent players not sucking.

And stuff like this, really isn't helping your case:

(technically, quickscoping is cheating whether people want to admit it or not)
No, it isn't. It's being a good Sniper. That's like complaining that getting headshots, or air juggles with explosives, is cheating. Quickscoping is just having good reactions and precision.

Really, you just sound like all those people who complain that anyone who beats them is "cheating", and the only legitimate players are the ones they beat, obviously!

I would be able to make the same claim about hackers, if I hadn't logged onto a few Delta Force 2 servers somewhere around 2008, almost ten years after the game was initially released. In that game, it was a rare server that could go an hour without some douche with trainers showing up. Thing is? Even under those circumstances, with absolutely no functioning anti-cheat and server admins that had apparently long since left the servers to rot, the vast majority of players played legitimately. On games that are actually recent, cheaters are so rare as to be practically non-existent. In other words, OP is either trolling, or just really bad at videogames. Either way, he's way off base with this thread.

I don't think you have a clue what you're talking about. I recommend you look up the definition of 'slippery slope', and realize that hackers actually form a relatively small group of online gamers.

Also, hackers aren't a total war faction, bent on world domination. They're simply people, who, through one form or another, exploit specific games through (generally) third party hacks. They aren't 'allied'.

I respect your right to voice your opinion, but I personally think you're talking bollocks. Especially about quickscoping - how is that cheating?
Are you serious?
Yes. If you wish to explain to me just how quickscoping is cheating, I'll be waiting here for you to expand my perceptual horizons.

Having played my fair share of FPS' and knowing a bunch of people who do. I have to say some people are just that good. For a very long time I thought my buddy was cheating in Halo. I had him come over and play on my 360, with my controller and he just dominated the game.

I have another friend who plays CoD on PC, and he uses some high end gamer mouse and keyboard, but beyond that he just pwns.

I'm not saying that hacking the game isn't more likely on PC, but I don't think it is as bad as you make it out to be.
