Hey all, my school's yearbook is up and running and I want to put in a photo of myself with my hair incredibly spiked.

The main problem is that my hair is over a foot long on average.

What does the escapist use when it needs some heavy duty spikage, is there any particular gel-brand or is there a secret that I dont know?

I used to use Hair GLÜ. I came in a yellow plastic squeeze tube. This stuff is amazing. Make sure you GLÜ up a while (At least an hour or so) before you need to do some major moving. Hit it with some hair spray to seal it all in. For super long hair, you might have lean over forward while you use your fingers to work it in to the base of the hair. Remember, a good base means stronger, taller spikes.

Use that hair WAX. That stuff can hold anyone's hair perfectly straight.

PVA glue. It works, and usually washes out surprisingly well.

You'll have to lie back over a bed and take your time on it though to get it straight. Most I ever managed was six inch spikes and that took ages to dry.

Well... I use shaving foam, but that's probably only good if you want to make a big forking mess [http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/9071/dsc00808n.jpg]. For spikes, I recommend the Schwarzkopf Got2b Glued series... That spray is awesome.

EDIT: Furburt ninja'd my hair!

Bending it back with straigtners and then applying the gel and blowing it up with a hair dryer.

Should work.

My advice....don't spike your hair. It looks stupid and you'll regret it later.
It's obviously justy for jokes, christ lighten up
OP: Well I've got a mohawk and when I wanna spike it up I use VO5 matt clay (a lot of it) to spike it up, then spray the shit out of it with a strong hair spray, works great
Also straighten it first, makes it a lot easier

When I did my hair Jedward style for a party I used a hairdryer to dry it up if you get what I mean, then I rubbed in a LOT of mousse and immediately applied hairspray. 'Twas rock solid.

This isn't for keeps, and everyone has two pictures in the yearbook (One serious, one other) and this is my 'other' one.

The major thing is the length of my hair. Can these gels withstand that much hair for long enough for me to get the picture done? (It should take about 15-30 minutes from gelling to end of photo)
