I agree with others that are saying shave it. It will be a radical change and is easy to manage.

Find out the closest place that does hair dressing teaching. A college or uni. Approach the head of the department, and say you can put by a day for him, and are willing to be a live lesson. My mum did this when she decided to go from hair down her back to just shy of shoulder length. The lecturer had his students group up and design some potential styles that would fit with her lifestyle and the sort of length she wanted. She picked one and that group got to style her hair under the supervision of the lecturer, and it worked as a dry run for the students and some "in real life it works like this" moments.

As an added plus she got it free.

Im afraid cornrows may be alittle too "gangster" looking. Yeah go for dreads! They look amazing when cared for!

The dreads are too common in my country, and they are kind of dirty. Are the cornrows too hard to make/mantain?

You need someone else to do cornrows really but once they are in they can stay in for weeks without being taken out or anything. Pretty low maintenance tbh. And you just rub shampoo in them to wash them.
