I had to take out a loan to get back on my feet because I was a renter so I got exactly dick when I lost everything.
Let me see if I can clarify something. I personally did not receive anything outside of the sba loan I had to take out. The hotel I lived in for 6 weeks? me. Replacing my shit? me. That money was given to the United States, not to me.AC Medina said:http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x4973187revjay said:I'll give half the amount I got from Katrina relief. When should the Haitian people expect your $18,000?
I get that you're bitter; it's a shame that an incompetent and/or uncaring U.S. government did a piss-poor job of providing assistance, and I'm sure we all applaud your resiliency. But implying that Haitians aren't deserving of aid now just seems unnecessarily petty. I'm willing to bet that, on your worst day during Katrina, you were still better off than most Hatians are on their best days. If you're that angry at your government for screwing you over, then, I dunno...don't pay your taxes, or something.revjay said:Let me see if I can clarify something. It sucks that others went through the kind of hell I did, they have my empathy.
I didn't imply they're not deserving of aid I simply pointed out that I'm not the one that's going to do it. Bitter? Maybe.AC Medina said:I get that you're bitter; it's a shame that an incompetent and/or uncaring U.S. government did a piss-poor job of providing assistance, and I'm sure we all applaud your resiliency. I'm ok with that the fact is most of the money raised by relief funds is probly gonna help rebuild thier palace not help the people starving before hand. It's not that i don't feel bad for them i just don't plan to help.AC Medina said:I have no problem withorDemented Teddy said:I have no opinions on this.
Haiti is of no concern of mine.
orRhade said:Me too. I'm not saying it's not important, just that world-disasters and relief-efforts news isn't something I really spend much time with or look into.
Also I'm a not an overly good person, so most things cause related can go do whatever as long as they don't need me to do things for them, or spending time looking into them/attempting to care much.
as long as you all don't have a problem with people from other countries feeling completely apathetic about the loss of life on, say, Bloody Sunday (Demented Teddy), or QLF bombings (Rhade and Fan of Death), or 9/11 (WhiteRat07)WhiteRat07 said:I feel sorry for them. But that about as far as it goes.I don't wanna sound like a jerk but this just doesn't concern me.

You are deeply mistaken.
I wouldn't expect other people to feel sorry for me any more then others should expect me to feel sorry for other nations.
This. I don't care at all. It does not affect me.Demented Teddy said:I have no opinions on this.
