It would be really cool if valve can keep everything silent also to the press and and the end of episode 3's cinematic you see something like "To be continued.. 2010"

The new orange box should contain: ep3, portal2, Black Mesa:Source (I can dream!)
But you can download Black Mesa for free when it comes out...:p

If it's taking this long for Valve to release another HL game, then it means that they are making HL3, not ep3. but I can't wait for it to come out! :D
Dude, it took them this long to make Episode 1, and even longer for 2.

valve is too far in their production to just leave us on cliffhanger in one of the most popular games of all time.
At Valve HQ, Gabe Newell speaks to his team:

"Right, we released those two pieces of concept art a while ago... Maybe we should start making the game now?"

Generic Valve Developer #1:

"What, already?"

It's a plausible scenario. Kind of. I'm hoping for a release next year.

I think it's a shame that Valve considers the Episodes to be Half-Life 3. Eps 1 and 2 were ok, but they just felt too action-heavy. I understand that with shorter episodes, you don't want to stand about listening to people talking very much; you want to get on with shooting things. But I was hoping they'd eventually do a full-blown HL3 that you could really take your time with, like HL2. Stitching the three episodes together doesn't really constitute a full sequel, f'you ask me.

Agreed. But did they say they considered the episodes to be Half Life 3? I don't remember that...

Wikipedia shows me this.

Straight from Gabe Newell himself:

If you think of Half-Life 1 as the G-Man trying to turn you into something that was useful to him - the transformation of the player into hero. And then Half-Life 2 was about how he was using you. Half-Life 3 [a.k.a. Episodes One to Three] is about the relationship with the G-Man and what happens when he loses control of you, when you're not available to him as a tool and how he responds to that, and what are the consequences of that.

If the mod is good, it will be avaible in Steam on the mod section and Valve might want to make more people aware of it.

And BM is spreading like wild fire in the internet since they putted the first trailer out. :p

Yea, but what about the lowly console players with a PC not capable of running such awesomeness? Like me?

Its your punishment for being a lowly console player!! Muahhahahaha!

(Black Mesa is not a Valve game, its a fan made remake of HL1 and will be up to download for free(Unless the modders get some wild ideas.(I mean...they should try to make some money cause hopefully it will be awesome...but I'm a cheap bastard I want it free!))

So it will be PC only.

I know that its a mod. I'm not THAT stupid. But look at most of Valve's games. Their all mods of Half-Life.

It is taking quite some time, but I'm willing to wait for quality. I wonder if they are solely concentrating on making episode 3 at this point. There is of course the Portal 2 theory, but it makes me wonder if they're also working on a new game engine.

As Valve don't seem like the kind of developer to just use the latest Unreal engine that most others seem to do.
My theory (based on nothing) is that there will be an Orange Box 2, with EP3, Portal 2, and some updated form of Counterstrike.
That's been on my mind also but I wonder how they will improve counter strike.

Counter Strike, Day of Defeat and Team Fortress(they all started as mods) to Half Life, Portal and Left 4 Dead. 50-50 now. :p

The thing is that Valve isnt looking for more people now(or at least they werent...), they opened a new office in California last year when they acquired Turtle Rock Studios.

But it can happen if the mod is really really good and Valve decides to hire the team to do some future project and put the mod on sale. And even that way there wouldnt be a console port. xP

Well think about it like this, within the next 2 years, hl2ep3 will be released, but then you will have to wait 2-8 years for the hl3.
So shut up and wait =p

with the ending in portal i cant help thinking that gordon will meet the escapee from aperture or maybe even end up with the portal gun....

any thoughts? or that just a bit silly :p
