They should organize rallies every other day until Half Life 3 is released. All I want to know is if this is still going on, because I'll drive down to join them.

Cute, but you're not changing anything.

Valve will change its production and development cycles for people with cardboard signs? I doubt it.

Every time someone mentions half life 3 on the internet, gabe deletes one of its source code files.

But it's pretty cool they got bought lunch by him.

I'd trample children for HL3..

But seriously, why aren't they continuing their flagship crowning glory? It makes no sense!

This just in: Half Life fans say "Shut up and take my money now, or I'm going to protest", Valve responds with maniacal laughing at successful mind-control. Details at 11.

I don't know what they think they're doing but demanding that Valve release a game early is like demanding the Earths pin faster so it'll be Christmas earlier. Valve does not work that way, there entire development cycle is center around releasing it only when they are happy with it, you can't just demand that they change it since that would destroy their entire development theory and inevitable ruin the game anyways. It'd be like taking months to paint the Mona Lisa half way and then slapping the rest together to get it out the door tomorrow. They are demand something that can't happen unless they are willing to accept and inferior product which they aren't. This is silly.

Regardless of all this HL2: Episode 3/HL: 3 crap, Gabe seems like a pretty nice guy. Then again, that could have been reluctantly accepted PR advice and I'm wrong. But I doubt it. There's a reason we separate Valve from EA.

I think they are, but, you see, the Valve development cycle works in much the same way as the movement of the Earth's crust. Eventually, over millions and millions of years, the crust moves apart in places and a volcano forms. Then it erupts, and the lava is symbolic of the semen of all the fans who had an orgasm when Ep.3 was released.

Wait...what?

We waited 14 years for Duke Nukem Forever and 11 years for Deus Ex .... people need to learn some patience.

The next guy should go out there dressed as Freeman himself, complete with a sign that says "will crowbar for food".

Like Duke Nukem Forever it might take 15 years to be made. Yes I'm saying Half life 3 is the Duke Nukem Forever...but it won't suck

Picketing does nothing but cause miscarriages and rape. MISCARRIAGES AND RAPE.
That's funny, because I was always under the impression that blunt force to the stomach caused miscarriages and sexually deprived guys with erect organs caused rape. |:p

I think people would settle for an update, you know something to deny that Robin Walker has everyone chained in the Valve offices making Team Fortress 2 hats. Which I'm pretty sure is exactly what has happened. It's just that we've heard between bugger and all about the next Half Life and it's be nice to just get something, even if it just a "we're working on different ideas and we're making sure it's awesome so it may take some time." Valve are perfectionists, if you've ever gone through the developer commentary or read 'Raising the Bar' you get that. With the next Half Life being the finale of the series that basically made them, yeah they're probably going to be nitpicking and brainstorming even more than usual.

But you know, some form of news would be nice.

Really? 4 years isn't that bad.
Yes, but the pain is augmented by the initial expectation that this was an episodic development cycle. I.E., three small games released less than two years apart from each other. But I think a full sized Half Life 3 would be worth the wait. Half Life 2 took around six years, and I hold it up as one of the best FPS games, bar none.
