He's more inaccurate than random.
He's from mushroomhead, there quite sick looking, some do actually look like venom.

Other times they seem to go for all out gore on there masks, from stuff that looks like the Texas chainsaw massacre to pigsy from manhunt.

Those things have nothing to do with xmas, that's why I said them. I was saying why dress up as something not scary on what is known to be a scary day?

Did they do the masks/face paint first? Or were other bands before them?

I have only just (by which I mean in the past hour) started listening to them but from all the youtube comments I have read claim that they beat out slipknot by 2 years with the mask thing but that's not to say they were the first band to use masks.

There have probably been other bands that have done it but I don't know of them.

Some seems to paint straight onto there face, others have masks. I think it depends on the level of detail they want.

If they want really messed up faces, like the pigsy looking one or the leather face one then they will use masks but for more simple ones they will go with paint.

I am just assuming though.

For Halloween last year, I was a rendition of The Anger from BRINK. What's scarier than that? Srsly, though, gave me an excuse to make a DIY dystopian costume. XD

*Insert expectations for game and how they were not met here*

OT: For me, Halloween is about paying homage to the scary stuff. Don't need to necessarily dress up as it yourself, but understand that it is there. Keep fear, for it may save you life. After all, even those who don't fear fire will get burned if they hold their hand in a flame.

I'm probably just raining on this parade, but I think Halloween is an utterly bizarre and kind of terrible "holiday". A pillow case full of candy is the last thing on earth a little kid (or anyone, for that matter) needs, and for what is essentially a celebration for small children people do some really weird things. I think we've all seen at least one family who goes crazy with the Halloween decorations, and their front yard is complete with decomposing corpses and whatnot. It's pretty sick IMO. I think one day people will look back on this and think "Wow, what a fucked up culture they had".

I'd say Purim is an infinitely better holiday (basically Jewish Halloween, except with actual meaning and encouraging people to give to charity), but I'm very biased.

I know what you mean. I wish things stuck to a Hallowe'en theme.
Personally, I think trying to be scary is lame. Things just end up looking gory and unpleasant-looking as opposed to really cool costumes.

Anywho, I'd like it if people wore thematic, stylistic, harvest mythology inspired costumes, that were cool creative and artistic if not scary. Just not a mixing pot of random cultural references and tendencies.

I am wanting to get a Spanish Inquisitor outfit and troll people Monty Python style. Either by setting up at my house and waiting for victims for the dreaded comfy chair or taking the torture on the go with the soft cushion.
No one would be expecting me.

I haven't participated in halloween since i was twelve. If i were to, though, i would try to make/buy a pyramid head costume. That thing is creepy

You don't know what I mean then.

I want scary things not hero's and cutsie things, I was saying that if the day is known for being about scares then people should dress up scary.

Eh, don't really like the holiday. I've never been a fan of costumes and the candy got old when I was twelve. Unless there's a decent party to go to, I just leave the porch light off and play video games.

EDIT: And the last time I dressed up, I needed something really quick because my friends convinced me to go at the last second, so I made a big red down-pointing arrow out of poster board, taped it on, and called myself the Dow-Jones index.

Sorry, there was totally meant to be more to that whole thing. And "I know what you mean" was really just directed at the whole distaste for fairies and superheroes running around.

Yeah, as for being scary, I love the idea of doing scary things like haunted houses and stuff but as someone else said in this thread, I don't think a hallowe'en costume is ever scary, no matter how much effort has been put into the costume and it usually just looks like trying too hard, hence I prefer costumes that are kinda stylistic.

Actually trying to scare people, or doing scary things with friends, are all different stories.

The only thing I do on Halloween is get drunk and watch scary movies...lol. I pass out candy sometimes, usually eat all the good candy or keep it for myself before the evil children and adults who say their children are "sick" at home can get to it...muhahaha aren't I just evil?

More than almost anything I've ever seen. No, really, it's terrifying, and I don't even know why.[/footnote]There are others, but those aren't for me to mention.
That wouldn't be this, would it?

Cause I swear even seeing that actually just scared me more than the first time I saw a picture of Michael Myers back when I was about 6.

This year, I want to go in a business suit and tie, but have a Buster Cannon from Mega Man on my arm.
I have no clue why, but it would be awesome.

That pretty much sums up my opinions on Halloween-
It's fun just to dress up as some random thing, no matter what that thing is.

he's axing about slipknot.

OT: I need a costume. Want to be something related to a zombie, but not a zombie.
I wasn't only on about slipknot, they weren't the first.

But I have realised since asking that Kiss are likely the first to have done it.

I've been a zombie for the past couple years, because I'm not particularly creative.
My first time around I went more-or-less all-out, I obtained prosthetics and facepaint to make it look like something had ripped out part of my throat and like bits of my face were falling off and it was great.

Then the next year, I was a Witch from L4D, because it seemed simple enough, and my two best guy friends were Alan Wake and A Hunter so many wacky hijinks were had.

So I guess to me Halloween is a time to either traumatize people, or make semi-obscure references to things, or generally act like a lunatic and I'm sure most of you will agree that I'm part of the reason the holiday is apparently going downhill.
