I've gone through halo 1 campaign over 10 times and i still see new things. Ive been playing halo pc online since its release and some things still surprise me. Halo was the first game to put everything together too (second button nades, second button melee, excellent vehicles, intelligent ai, large open landscapes and most importantly freedom). I went through half life 2 and i could barely get through due to overwhelming boredom. Sure the graphics are great but doing the same thing over and over again with not many options to go about the situation and in the same environment for long periods of time, is not my idea of fun. Also many people claim that halo copied off all these great games, but they never say which games they are. Halo was definiatly the first of its kind.

Half Life 2....boring????? Now halo doesn't float my boat but I can dig that some people like it, hell some people like Mc Donald?s, god knows why but they do.

Anyway HL2 and bored....first off two words ?Gravity Gun?

Did you never try to beat a zombie to death with a paint can? (takes about 10 hits and nearly total paint coverage) Lovingly cart along a buzz-saw blade for 9/10th's of the game (only to have the damn thing rebound and fly off miles and be completely un-retrievable) not appreciate the fantastic set pieces? Grigori and his traps in Ravenholm? The striders in the city as they turn the city into a war zone? The super gravity gun? (<3)

Did you even try CS-Source or TF2? Portal maybe?

Ok maybe I should accept that it's not everyone?s slice of cake but someone please explain to me why not? (And sensibly please with actual example not just "it suxxord!!!!!oneeleven11!!"

Halo: Combat Evolved was a solid shooter well worth the money, time and effort. Halo 2 and 2.5, not so much. Perhaps if Bungie had not jumped the shark and focused the vast majority of their efforts on online play, where you are forced to interact with a bunch of "Hooting Dickholes," rather than develop a real game, this would not be the case because the story has promise. I tend to agree with Yahtzee on this one, Halo 2.5 is not worth the money, and neither was Halo 2. Both games should have been $29.95 specials from day one.

But as for the review i can tell 3 things from it.
1 you never played the hard settings.
2 your a fanboy.
3 you dont have live.
4 you want to piss people off.

Most importantly it does not "need to be said" BECAUSE ITS BEEN SAID OVER A MILLION TIMES!
Blah Blah Blah

Now, do I want to piss people off? Well, that depends. I want to piss *stupid* people off.

Because I hate them.

A lot.

Your ignorance is painful.
At least he can tell the difference between counting to three and counting to four.

Apparently you know nothing of excellent games. Although I guess that I do have to respect your so called opinions.

To clear something up i haven't played portal, I just like Cake and Jim Gaffigan's stand-up which also involves a lot of cake....

I do need to play Portal sometime though.

Err I ment to do that. Anyway it could be worse, I might have put something after 4.
Everybody knows numbers don't get any higher than that.

But really, I thought up number 4 right before posting.

I figured, but you still broke one of the sacred laws as set forth by Brother Maynard and his cleric.

"Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out."

Pray for your soul.

Because the cake is a lie :D

But in all seriousness I expected more from Halo 3's storyline. I know its just a Space FPS but I really expected some sort of conclusion that you know....worked. Not just having the Master Chief floating around in space. I would have thought I would tak place in some kind of massive battle between factions or maybe some sort of epic battle between me and Truth but instead all I got was a pretty ripoff from halo 1. And you can tell a games merit when it have to use scenes from previous games to rap up the storyline.

Not that I'm saying halo 3 is a bad game. Its fun and fills my primitive urge to shoot stuff but from my (and this is going to sound really stupid) belief that halo 1 and 2 are great games I ended feeling a little bit upset that halo 3 was only able to give me a "this is ok...kinda" feeling.

Rocket race is really fun though :)

I'm glad you had the balls to not say Halo was good or amazing, becasue it's not a great game. People are astonished by the online, when I find it's runied by the lack of normal people. All you hear is "DIE j00 n00b."
That's not really the game's fault though, is it?
Even if you don't fault the game for that, it's still a valid point.

Shouldn't you judge the online component by what it actually is and not by what it should have been? Aren't there steps the developer could have taken to isolate obnoxious players? Couldn't the matchmaking software be better? There's a lot that can be done to make online play better, Halo 3 doesn't do these things. Why participate in a community that is full of foul-mouthed brats? MS/Bungie don't care if the community they made is terrible. That community is the online experience of Halo.

If your only options are participating in a bad online experience or not to participate at all, isn't that the fault of the developer? If you don't think so then the inverse must be true as well-- A good online experience in a game isn't because the developers made it good, it's out of their hands, after all.

I failed to mention that the single player was aweful. I thought that people had already come to that conclusion, I was just adding on. I'm a bastard like that.
I like to think of it as awful, pompous, and artificial [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Paul%27s_Cathedral]. Not perfect, admittedly, but I enjoyed replaying it much more than I enjoyed replaying most of the rest of my collection; much less scripting, for one reason.

Also, haterade stunts your growth. Makes you go blind, too. Go eat the cereal you enjoy, and stop trying to piss in mine.

The Something Awful review [http://www.somethingawful.com/d/game-reviews/halo-3-review.php?page=1] pretty much said all the same stuff. That was...oh, more than four months ago now, I guess. And actually, Yahtzee pretty much covered it [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/zeropunctuation/2304-Zero-Punctuation-Halo-3] around that time as well.

So, you know, if it did need to be said, it's already been said repeatedly.

Halo 3 is good. That's what I think a lot of people have trouble with. It is not bad, and it is not great. I suspect fanboyism when someone makes either of those claims. It's a well-polished, enjoyable game, with few flaws, but little to recommend it either. If you never play shooters on PC, you'd probably have a great time with this game, unless you dislike multiplayer, in which case you'd probably feel cheated.

I actually think it's the best game in the series. The first game had level design that screams "We haven't had any new ideas since Marathon", the second had a piss-poor story with the most noob-friendly multiplayer of any game ever... this one is a big improvement. Except for the last couple of levels, the level design is alright, and the multiplayer is much more balanced, especially since it doesn't have aim assist that turns everyone into William Tell in space. Also, you can play an Elite without dying constantly in situations a Spartan would survive.

Still, between getting the Orange Box, and getting Mass Effect, I did not play it at all. Just... abandoned it. That says a lot.

I can't believe people actually take the time to write such a lengthy review about a game... just because. Who would do that unless they were getting paid?

Fact is that someone's awesome is another person's terrible. But the fact that so many people log in and play Halo 3 online is a testament to just how fun it is. I personally can't stop playing COD4 and I'm really wanting to play the Orange Box, if only to try Portal.

Just got the Box last week. Totally worth it.
