Hey, I love forward planning and I'm making a list of games in 2010 and I was looking over the release history of the Halo franchise.
It was then I noticed that Halo 2 was not released for PC until 3 years after it's Xbox release, almost at the same time as its sequel. 2010 will be 3 years after Halo 3 came out and same year as the release of Halo: Reach (planned release at least). Also roughly coinciding with Microsoft releasing a new operating system. Overall, I am getting a distinct sense of De Ja Vu.
So, Halo 3 on PC in 2010? Possible? Probable? Wishful thinking?
The question of whether we should even care about Halo any more may be a valid one, but I always thought Halo 3 would be the perfect game for the PC treatment.
Well for one Halo 3 to spite having good graphics is let down by its low native resolution of 640p and the complete lack of any anti-aliasing makes it even worse to upscale. These are problems easily solved by just having a more powerful graphics card. Mouse aim would be great to have as well.
Then there is the online. I mean has anybody played Halo 3 and possibly wanted to have an online community more like Steam than Xbox Live? It'd also be nice not having to pay an annual fee for online mutiplayer...
Halo 3 has run its course on consoles, I don't know how ODST factors into this but I think the obvious way to milk Halo some more is to expand onto PC. I know this is in the wake of Activision utterly sodomizing the PC release of Modern Warfare 2... but who knows, maybe Bungie are listening to the internet and know a market when they hear it.
