I hope they characterise John (Master Chief) more... Apart from that I just want MORE HALO!

I FUCKIN' LOVE HALO!
I disagree, I like Master Chief's personality in the games. My gaming pet peeve is when the main characters in the game that I'm controlling does or says the opposite of what I would done in that situation. I prefer the characters that I can imply my personality on.

Fair enough but I want him stay the same just maybe... Say a bit more...

Remember in Halo 2 when he got into the covenant ship and there were to grunts and he said "Boo"? Well I want more scenes like that and possibly a heart felt conversation with a dying marine or something...

I'm gonna wait and see. Does anyone know the justification of covenant being there, and elites being assholes again? Please don't let it be the "An isolated group where stranded years before chief got there" that would anger me.
Well, the vast majority of the Covenant followed the ideal of the Great Journey with unflinching zeal for thousands of years. The pursuit of it became the cornerstone that held together their entire culture. I don't think it would be too hard to swallow for the explanation to simply be 'There are still factions of the Covenant who still believe in the old doctrine'. I mean, when the pursuit of a promised salvation has been your entire life's work, as well as your father's life, and his father's and so on, and then suddenly you're forced to confront that it was all a lie, it's understandable why some might prefer denial.

OP: Looking forward to the heavier focus on The Chief and Cortana, and finding out more about the Forerunners (and possibly other species that lived alongside/before them).
Well the two other major species that lived alongside were Humanity and the San'Shyuum (Prophets) whom at this time were actually allies, but then the San'Shyuum backed out during the Human-Forerunner war, and left Humanity to fight the Forerunners, and lost.
What book is this from? I never heard anything about a Human-Forerunner war.
IT's in Halo Cryptum and Primordium.

I'm still skeptical, but I tend to wait until someone posts a walk through of the game. If I like what I see and hear, it may be a game for pick up

I'm just looking forward to spending more time in the Halo-verse.

I enjoy the "ridiculously overblown threats to the universe" sort of Sci-Fi. I mean,
An ancient race essentially commits suicide (and genocide to a certain extent) by creating and firing a series of seven intricate ring worlds designed with the sole task of destroying all sentient life in an entire galaxy just so a parasitic hivemind is starved of food and is then unable to take over the known universe?
Damn, that's a little OTT!

But such an obvious threat gives time for certain characters to be studied in smaller detail, to explore their reactions to such impending doom and what-not. That's what I'm hoping for in this game, a little more characterisation. Bungie were just getting good at this by Halo 3. then they failed massively during Reach. I think 343 know this...

I'm trying to understand why we are fighting the Covenant still. Wasn't that the story behind Halo 3? That Humans and Aliens can live in Peace?

Also the Elites are our Allies, so why are we shooting them?
That was an aliiance of convinience, think The soviets and the American/British in WW2, it didn't exactly go well after that finished.

OT: I alm somewhat excited for the campaign, but I'm going to wait for some reviews and stuff before I buy it.

Will they allow custom maps and such? I remember Halo 3 jenga. That was legitimately the most fun I ever had with my xbox.
Indeed, jenga was epic :D

OT: Hmmm, I do enjoy the halo campaigns with the exception of ODST which I found to be a tad boring.

However I have switched to the almighty PC since then, so I don't know if I'll be getting it :/

Well John does have his own personality though, it may be shown as much but he has already his own set of morals and such.

I just want to know why Master Chief is using the DMR in the trailer, when this is clearly not Reach, and the Battle Rifle has long since been invented.

Single-round vs 3-round burst with little recoil. Hm...

Methinks Chief has gone a bit loony in his isolation.
Nope, in the campaign trailer, Master Chief is using the BR in all of it's reskinned glory

Now the Spartan Ops Trailer, the first Spartan IV was using a DMR

I don't know anything about halo but if they are continuing the story rather than dicking around with prequels and spin-offs then thats cool

EDIT: I wonder if theyll ever do the same for that other beloved sci fi series

Anyway, I usually love Halo's multiplayer, Halo 2 and 3 were the best in that category if you ask me, but i think that Halo 4 is kinda becoming more Call of Duty'ish. Reach, I loved forge, but i think the multiplayer lacked. It didn't have the Halo feel..

I'm afraid that is whats going to happen to Halo 4, trying to be like Call of Duty and not staying true to it's roots, just like Reach.

P.S. I loved all the campaigns from all the games, (Including ODST), but Reach's Multiplayer = :(
there are some rebel covenant that still believe what the prophets told them, so they are still on a blind, dumb mission.

Really hoping that Cortana isn't being set up as the final boss. From what I gathered from Halo 3, she achieved meta-stability, but it seems otherwise is happening instead. =/

They're continuing the story. The next three Halo games will be a continuation, no prequels or spin offs.

I think dicking around with spin offs/prequels somtimes means they don't really need to try anymore...people will eat it up anyway because they love the IP

How is it "dicking around"? That would imply they've been dragging their feet doing crap. What they've actually done is sat down, centralized the canon, started developing Halo 4 and CE:HD(just after Reach was completed), and gathered up some authors to fill in the postwar universe. Everything 343 has done since they've picked up the reigns points back to the new trilogy(4-6)

you should go back and read my other posts because that wasnt what I was saying at all

I'm saying this is a GOOD thing

by "dicking around" I mean the whole thign being spin offs and prequels..or noteven that but lesser quality stuff that skirts by on the brand-name alone...I'm not a fan of prequels as it kind of means that the staus quo cannot be changed (depending on how close it is to the original story)...

Quote of the century. I think that credits and armor customization killed it. Everyone only wanted to play matchmaking to gain credits so that they could unlock all of the "elit3z" armors. Gosh darnit, I miss Halo 3. :(

Custom games will probably be better in Halo 4, as you need to do challenges to unlock most of the armor and not credits.

I believe this is so because I heard many fans were happy they changed it. But don't quote me on this.
