I'm surprised no one on the board's mentioned this yet. If it's not everywhere yet, it will be by morning.

Apparently, the entire game (which is 2 discs on the 360) has leaked online. Spoilers are everywhere now - the topic I just linked above has several links to incredibly spoiler-filled pictures (including the main antagonist and the prologue). Microsoft's pulling down as many videos as they can, but somebody's already uploaded the full ending/Legendary epilogue.

Just a word of caution - if you were hoping to stay unspoiled, your may want to refrain from visiting any gaming site. Spoilers are everywhere now.

Would be interested to hear your thoughts. I know every installment since 2 leaked, but it's still a bit of a shock seeing consumer copies out three weeks before street date.

I really have to wonder how this keeps happening. Surely the developers themselves know better ('Cause they'd probably get fired and have a hell of a time getting employment elsewhere), but who else is there? Is there some Spec Ops group who goes around Splinter Celling their way into publisher/developer's offices and jack copies of the game or what?

They're probably leaking it themselves then making it look like they didn't. It'll get them more publicity than saying "Hey, come advertise us".

OT: that cutscene quality looks amazing, and wasn't what I expected at all.

In some cases, the leaks have come from the companies that actually manufacture the disks. They get the full code and specifications for the disk, and one of their employees leaks the code online.

I imagine many game leaks come from right off the manufacturing line. Some dude snags either a disc from the line directly or a good-looking disc from the "disposal" bin (depending on how it's set up).

OT: I've watched the prologue, just to see if I was getting the real deal, and then skipped ahead for a small bit of gameplay, but I won't go farther than that because I want my first time seeing the opening and first level to be with controller in hand and with better than 240p graphics.

Depends on where the discs are produced, but usually floor managers are willing to turn a blind eye if an employee greases their palm, so that a good disc is marked as bad. Sometimes the floor managers will take whole cases to sell off at a premium.

The stream was hilarious, i'll say that. Guy couldn't kill hunters at all and died like 5-7 times in the first 5 levels alone on the easiest difficulty.

I saw the leaks and I just wanna say this [Some spoilers, mostly vague though so it won't ruin the game experience, but still]:

God damn, Diadact is one ugly person. You'd think forerunners would be less ugly, right?

Rockstar games is a badly mismanaged and underfunded studio, and IT can keep it's games under wrap. What's your excuse, microsoft?

Wasn't a manager in Georgia picked up a couple years ago with something like 20 copies of Splinter Cell: Conviction in his car a week before launch? I'm not being sarcastic, I just can't remember the details, beyond the general event.

Judging from the comments yesterday (and the leaked disc image), the copy either came from a Neogaf mod or someone in one of MS' production facilities in Mexico. One other user who was playing the game (until he was cut off half-an-hour in) said he bought his copy from a mom-and-pop store that always breaks street date.

Judging from what I've seen, the graphics look incredible - say what you will about the campaign, but the quality is practically photo-realistic. I honestly couldn't tell whether the characters were real or CGI.

Hmm, spoiling the ending to Halo... that's like spoiling the ending to Doom. The plot twists are not really its selling point.

I'm not looking for any spoilers but what are people's impression of the game so far? I'm on the fence as to whether I'm going to buy the game or not but it does look promising. I don't get how the graphics are that good for a console though haha.

From what I've seen, it looks much more cinematic/story-driven than the prior installments. Lots of backstory in this one.

Also (gameplay mechanic spoiler),

The final "boss" is a quick-time event sequence.

Manufacture in China on slave wages, expect the consequences. Offer a worker who earns nothing in one of those factories a couple hundred US dollars and bang, truck load production discs on your door step.

Not a surprise, there is money to be made and the local authorities really couldn't care less.

Ironically, that exact problem seems to have lead to a lot of DVD pressing business coming back to the US, bringing the problem right back here with it.

I'm sure there's at least one person, somewhere, who plays Halo for the storyline.

Yep, that would be me. Then again, I've read all the novels and watched most of the Halo animated short movies, so I tend to have more of an interest in the deeper lore of the Halo universe than people whom just play it for the guns and carnage.

Not that there is anything wrong with playing Halo just for guns and carnage, but I actually like my gunplay and carnage to mean something in the overall lore. Just a preference.

Well, I'm going to have to avoid the internet for a few weeks now.
