First Mario, then sports games, then Call of Duty, now Halo...

Which game is next to get the yearly milking treatment?

Go whine somewhere else.

It doesn't matter if a franchise is milked as long as they milk it with quality products.

Wait? When was time compressed double so that two years has suddenly become one?

Eh. Its been a while since we've seen the Chief. I'm kind of excited.
That being said, you don't quite get how the industry works. (Lol, as if I fully do, but I at least know this - )

I'm just as tired of sequals as you are OP. But games, good games, demand a lot from its audiance. They cost MILLIONS AND MILLIONS of dollars to create. Triple A titles at least. Throw in a little less third party support, and you are left with Sequals to make the money.

Dont be so pessimistic?

Hey, I LIKE sequels. I grew up with the Mega Man series and it's pretty much nothing but sequels. And people complain about it. And I don't understand why. You're getting more adventures with a character and game mechanic you like, what's not to love?

Halo 4 is a year and a half away and it will have been 2 years past when Reach came out.

Nice try at taking a blow at a game for no reason, next time try not to be so obvious while trolling.
4, 5, and 6 are going to be a year apart. This is just the beginning.

Next time think before assuming every post is a troll.

Mario was not the first game to get the "yearly milking" thing. Also, because this is the Escapist, and you made a comment like you did, I have to ask: you're a PC Gamer, aren't you? Just a guess...

Halo has been getting the yearly milking since 3 0_o ODST, Wars, Reach...
Having said that, if people are willing to buy the games, they'll keep making them. CODMOD2 and Black Ops were made because those games are what people evidently want to buy.

They're releasing a new trilogy, so its not unfair to assume yearly updates. Especially since MS now has... not much once Gears of War "wraps up".

Source? Because as far as I know all 343i has announced is that Halo 4 is coming at Christmas 2012 and that there will be a 5 and a 6, but no hint of release dates for those.

Also, yearly sequels don't necessarily HAVE too be a bad thing, especially if it's from a developer that only makes one franchise and are not doing several things at once so don't need to rush. Reach only came out a year after ODST after all and Reach was the best of the series IMO.

And that in no constitutes the sky falling for Halo as it becomes a milked dry yearly installment cash cow.

Okay, I'll reword my first post.

You are wrong about it being a year apart, and you are obviously a troll or an idiot making stupid reasons up in an attempt to attack a game for no reason.

Halo: 2001
Halo 2: 2004
Halo 3: 2007
Halo: Reach: 2010
Halo 4: 2012

And technically Halo: REACH isn't part of the main franchise, so you can suck it.
Your point on dates is correct... but Reach is definitely 100% part of the main franchise. The only game that can be considered not part of the main franchise is Halo Wars.

Also, try and be a bit more civil.

I just hope they don't mess with the series. They can do whatever the hell they want with the Chief, but if Elites start fighing humans again, I will find 343 Industries and show them the meaning of pain. And use their children as examples.

Some will. Relations between the Humans and Sangheili are cool at best. There's a lot of bad blood still there. And hell, even the humans might be the first to strike.

But it looks like this story will be JUST about John. I feel like we won't be seeing many, if any, humans or known aliens.

That would be good, in my opinion. If they want to open up a new story in some far-off section of the canon, fine by me. It's when they mess around with established continuity that I'll get annoyed. Giving John a jetpack out of the blue was almost too much for me.

A lot of people think (and for the sake of not getting mad for the same reason you are about it I think it's worth believing :p) it's simply a booster system that was actually existent in the books used for extra-vehicular activity. There just wasn't a point in any of the games where he needed it.

Although I agree that it'd definitely be best for at least the first game or two to be in a new place, anything during the game won't really break fiction (unless that actually is a jetpack, or something similar happens). It'll just be the future. The Sangheili and Humans fighting again isn't that far fetched (though a full fledged war, I'd say, is unlikely).

Could I have any more parenthesis in a single post? (Yes, I think I could.)
