Halo 4 Soundtrack Samples on IGN

IGN has posted a bunch of the songs for Halo 4, and so far they sound great imo. Different then the rest of the series, but still good.

Davidge is awesome and so is this soundtrack.

Okay, I just listened to the first 3 seconds of the first track, instantly one of my favourites among video game music.

"Awakening" will play when Master Chief gets out the cryo tube no doubt.

Escapist I feel has a thing against Halo. D: Honestly it really hasn't done anything wrong. The worst it did probably was the whole over priced ODST thing. But there might be other reasons.

Also Freaking Revival and Haven are just fan fucking tastic.

Well, the Escapist is 70% PC gamers (I think, taking a shot in the dark here, but I think that's what it was when there was a poll on it) therefore they play Valve games, therefore they like Half Life. Let's face it, Half Life fans probably aren't going to like Halo a whole lot.

No offense intended to the people of this website. It's just that some Half Life fans tend to get seriously passionate (Halo fans do it too...the Bungie.net forums "shudder") but on odds it comes down to Half Life vs Halo, and the Escapist is going to side with Half-Life. Sure they may say things like "it's a generic brown shooter with a two weapon limit and regenerating health" like that somehow makes it inherently bad, but mainly it's going to come down to it being very similar to Half Life yet in some ways being the complete opposite.

Yes, there's a Halo Fan User Group, but that doesn't get updated very often and chat isn't really active at all.

It might though, once Halo 4 is out.

We should try to get it more popular. I did post some things on there a while ago, and shortly there after were posted as news. Hell I wouldn't mind help modding the group and posting news every so bit.

As much as I hate to admit it, most of the escapist are PC elitists
I personally play mostly PC, but a new Halo game is what makes me turn on the Xbox for non-DVD related things again.

I'd love to be interested in Halo 4, and hyped for it's arrival, but I don't have an Xbox360, so I haven't even been able to "Finish the Fight" yet.

That said, the music is absolutely brilliant. I was sad when Martin O'Donnell wasn't coming back, but I don't think we'll be let down by the music in Halo 4 at all. It'll be different, but certainly not in a bad way, and that might help establish it's independence from the other 3 as I do believe they are having a whole new storyline.

I love the core samples they gave us, but most of the remixes were god awful. I would much rather here the original versions in game at least.

I think revival is my favorite at the moment.

If they're able to flesh out the characters more and have a more interesting campaign than the original games than all power to them. Halo CE still stands as my 2nd favorite game of all time. Well what I feel like is going to be really good for them is that unlike Bungie there is now a much clearer idea of what is to happen and the whole storyline rather then make one game and then write the next storyline with no lore background. I think they will do good and they're bringing some elements back from CE, like the mystery and exploration that while in the other games was much stronger in CE.

Hey, it beats 12 page long threads about how much Halo sucks and is ruining gaming of reasons. I guess Activision and EA have muscled everyone else out of that particular turf.

But yeah, I guess Halo has been around for long enough now that it's not really as hype-able as it used to be. People who are looking forward to it are just happy to look forward to it quietly, and people who aren't don't care enough to make threads about why they're not looking forward to it.

But yeah, I guess Halo has been around for long enough now that it's not really as hype-able as it used to be. People who are looking forward to it are just happy to look forward to it quietly, and people who aren't don't care enough to make threads about why they're not looking forward to it.

I have to admit, I'm gonna miss that theme...
Running up Halo: Combat Evolved for the first time, and the T.V. slowly glowing with that solemn hymn starting to play... gave me chills.

And then there's this:
Which is still to this day, in my opinion, the most fitting piece of gaming music to its host, other than Skyrim of course .

But so far... me likey. I'm really looking forward to playing the campaign.
I'll stick to Halo 3 though for multiplayer. (Reach for customs)

Oh great, that thing that I left the Bungie.net forums to get away from. No thanks, I'll pass. I'll take a month long break from the forums if I have to. Also, there's some news about Limited Edition specialist classes. Basically there are 8 specialist classes, only 2 of them available to people who didn't get the Limited Edition. You get to level 50 and then you can start to start to unlock them. They're mostly armor pieces, but at the end you can get a unique ability. The two available to everyone include increased experience and the ability to use Promethean Vision without the drawbacks and to run silently. You can only use one and they'll probably take up a perk slot. I don't think that this is a big deal (frankly it seems like really minor stuff) but people are going to flip, I can tell.
